Songs from the Eighties That Have Been In Commercials, Index
Well, it was bound to happen, and it has been happening now for a while, Commercials bleeding the memory of the eighties, for music. The first one I remember is "Like A Rock" and then "Born in the USA." Now it's food items. What's next? I'd love to hear your recomendations. Please limit it to TELEVISION Commercials though. Radio stations usually mix in background music with spoken ads by the DJ's and the music tends to be used in both radio and television versions of most Commercials eventually.

Used to promote a (you guessed it!) Monday night movie schedule in summer 2008.
Sandals, using Jackie DePearson's, "What the World Needs Now/ Disco Version"
Who did this high energy dance remix of What the world needs now?
Macy's, using Katrina and the Waves's, "Walking on Sunshine"
Call 1-800-MACYBED to sing this song, stupid.

The Reese's Peanut Butter Cups are in heaven in the orange background that's the color of the packaging.

The characters in this film are probably in the upcoming movie.

Used to promote the new game featuring Mario and Sonic the Hedgehog.
Michelin, using Sergio Mendes's, "Never Gonna Let You Go"
The Michelin Man inspects each and every tire that comes off the line, and hugs each one, and never wants to see it go!
The Price is Right $1,000,000 Spectacular, using The Romantics's, "What I Like About You"
Used to promote the upcoming $1,000,000 Spectacular special in 2008.
Hallmark Cards, using REO Speedwagon's, "Can't Fight This Feeling"
This was used on one of the Valentine's Day 2008 ads where they are in their car and the song is played out of their card.
Domino's Pizza, using Cinderella's, "Don't Know What You've Got (Until It's Gone)"
A couple of guys awaiting a Domino's Pizza play around while Don't Know... plays.
Chase, using Queen's, "I Want It All"
Again?
Nissan, using Stevie Ray Vaughan's, "Pride and Joy"
Disturbing. If SRV were still alive, he would probably never allow any song for commercials.
