These toy stuffed animals were made by Animal Fair Inc. out of Minneapolis, MN. There were actually several of them. Chubbles was the first, looked a little like a 'jawa' from 'Star Wars', wore a hood and robe came in a variety of colors. I think blue was the most common. Chubbles responded to light, by covering the right eye ( if I remember correctly ) , his nose lit up and gave a couple of chirps. Chiggles came next, looked kinda like a lion ( a picture (http://www.geocities.com/carebearkingdom/chiggledark.jpg) can be found here (http://www.geocities.com/carebearkingdom/chiggles.html) ). Chiggles responded to sound by clapping or whistling by blinking his eyes and giving the same little chirp. Next ( again if i am remembering correctly ) came the miniature versions of Chubbles and Chiggles. I think they both responded to sound by lighting up inside. Also very cool was that they then glowed in the dark. I remember picking mine up shaking him at night just so that i could enjoy the glow. Then there was also Chootles. If I remember correctly he was a bird. Kinda like a big fat plumb crow. Of course he didn't go over well with the public. Plus I think the fad was fading because I remember that they were getting hard to find in the stores ( weren't selling as many ). I actually found my original Chootles at a drug store in Billings, MT in 1988. The combination of Chootles looking like a fat crow and that they weren't selling as fast makes Chootles the rarest of them all. I have no idea to what stimuli he responded to, or even how he responded. There might have even been a fourth in the series, but I can't quite remember. Yes, I had them all, the whole family. Big and 2 little Chubbles, Big and little Chiggles, Big Chootles, and a fourth big one. For a total of 4 big and 3 little ones. And in excellent condition. So what happened to them you ask ? They all came to an untimely and horrific, tragic end. In 1992 the girlfriend, that I was with at the time, and I had a very abrupt and extreme end :fight: to the relationship. Which resulted in all my stuff being throw away in the dumpster. I was not able to recover them. :grrr: :grrr: :grrr:
