Top Ten Lists of Eighties Movies

The concept is pretty easily, pick your ten favorite movies from the eighties. The hard part? I want JUST movies from the eighties, not movies you might have seen during the eighties. Also, try and avoid movies that came out after the eighties if possible, 1990 is pretty borderline, I won't scream too loudly if you add one that is from then...

    I loved that movie. It used to drive me up a wall that she wouldn't listen to the little worm though.

    Even though it isn't technically of the eighties, it might as well be. The most intense movie of the time, definitely a great for both Christian Slater and Samantha Mathis.

    John Cusak, key master, great date, kick boxer. It has no equal.

  • 3. Dead Poets Society
    Carpe Diem. A group of characters so different from one another, yet as the story unfolds, I felt like I could relate to each of them. Though Charlie(Nwanda) was my favorite, who didn't want him to hit Cameron?

    It is quite possible that there is no other movie, not now, or ever, that will cause you to laugh hysterically, at the exact same time as you sit in mortified shock.

    The critics hated it, but with most of the films that I like, it just had a great feel.

    Woody Allen went mainstream with this, but I just loved it.

    Best SW film
  • 6. Gremlins
    Ambience is so important in a movie, and Gremlins was a Christmas film with horror and comedy overtones, what a concept.
  • 5. Glory
    Just sneaks into the eighties. Great attention to detail, and a good role for Matthew Broderick.
  • 4. Vacation
    More than virtually any film of its time, gave a really good feel of what living in the eighties was like, fashion, values, etc, and very, very funny a true comedy classic.
  • 3. Revenge of the Nerds
    Great movie, really very underrated.
  • 2. Class
    I just love this film, I only regret the Bisset/McCarthy scenes took away from the what do teens get up to motif.
  • 1. Local Hero
    A Scottish film from 1983, a fine film, my favorite of all time. Subtle but just so much going on.
I have a little bit of a junk tooth so a lot of the films I love are a bit pulpy. But they are classy, well produced pulp.

    Great music, great acting. What more could you want?
  • 5. The King of Comedy
    Another Scorsese masterwork. What a decade for him!
  • 4. Zelig
    Woody Allen's great underappreciated masterpiece on what it means to mean something to somebody.
  • 3. The Last Temptation of Christ.
    Made me think more about Jesus than any church sermon.
  • 2. ET: The Extra-Terrestrial
    A movie that I've noticed most girls "don't get." It's a guy movie. A guy and his dog.
  • 1. Raging Bull
    Nothing more needs be said. If you've seen it, you know why it's the best movie of the 80's. Perhaps of all time.
I enjoyed Ishtar. The songs are funny, Beatty is hilarious as a loser with the ladies and Dustin Hoffman singing is just plain funny.

    The only reason this movie is at #10 is because I have never even seen it. I go on the internet looking for different things and I always find information about this movie. I've never even seen it but know that it is one of the biggest movies of the 80s not to mentio all times!!!!

    My dad was in love with this movie and told me I should watch. I said sure whatever. I ended up loving it. There is no way that it could not be considered one of the greatest movies of all times.

    This movie and it's sequels made one of the biggest impacts in the movie industry than almost any other movie.

    I remember watching this movie for the first time and loving it. I am pretty sure the rest of America loves it tool.

    This movie was a cute one. The cast was great and it has impacted every single person who has seen it.
  • 5. 16 Candles
    I've never actually seen this movie but I know that it belongs at #5 by the way it had impacted the 80s. Plus any movie with Molly Ringwald in it kicks butt!!
  • 4. Back to the Future
    This movie is a great one and summed up the 80s (and the 50s) very well. If you have not seen it I suggest you go rent it right now!!
  • 3. Breakfast Club
    This was a great movie that brought all of different types of personalities together. This movie is just a great one to watch over and over again.

    This is a great feel good movie. I find myself smiling everytime I am done watching this movie.

    This is my all time favorite 80s movie not to mention the best movie of all times.
