Eurythmics, "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)" / 1983 Review by: Ian
Although considered a one hit wonder by many, Eurythmics actually generated many hits throughout the decade of the Eighties. Nevertheless, their trademark is definitely "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)." Although the anchor of the album, "Sweet Dreams" is by no means the only great song. In fact, the album flows like a greatest hits collection. "Jennifer" is beautifully chilling, adding intense emotion to the electronic sound, a feat so rarely accomplished. "This City Never Sleeps" evokes very well the mood of loneliness, while the title-track-esque "I Could Give You (A Mirror)" lays out an angry yet very danceable track. This album also contains the hit "Love Is A Stranger" and the more obscure singles "The Walk" and "This Is the House."
