Van Dyke Parks, "Jump" / 1984 Review by: Mr. Media
In 1984 everything that had legs was jumping. Stock Prices , The Pointer Sisters , even Van Halen was jumping. So Van Dyke Parks got into the act. Except he jumped backwards, and produced a Dixieland record in 1984. I guess no one told him that in the MTV age, Briar Rabbit and banjoes don't equal platinum success. For the sheer strangeness of this record when compared to its contemporaries, this is a recommended listen.
