Various, "Just Say Yes...Sire's Winter CD Music Sampler" / 1987 Review by: Music Video Nut

This album featured many great songs from popular alternative/college rock bands of the era. Unlike most sampler CDs, this features great remixes of Depeche Mode's "Never Let Me Down Again" and Echo & The Bunnymen's "Lips Like Sugar", semi obscure classics from The Replacements ("Can't Hardly Wait"), James ("Ya Ho"), an out of place song from rapper Ice T ("Somebody Gotta Do It") , and a song from The Smiths that was previously unreleased in the US ("Work Is A Four Letter Word"). If you're a fan of '80's alternative music, you'll enjoy this album. Unlike most sampler albums, "Just Say Yes...Sire's Winter CD Music Sampler" is more like a slice of what was popular in alternative music of the time. Thankfully, Madonna, who also was in the Sire/Warner Bros. label, isn't on this album since she would be really out of place. (No offense to fans of the Material Girl)
