I LOVED this cereal as a kid for some reason! The O's were kind of square shaped like a block print and always tasted the best when you let the cereal soak up the milk for a few minutes...mmmm

My X-b/f turned me on to this cereal and I think I liked it better than him ;)Seriously I really liked this cereal back in the 90's and could not find it anywhere but TODAY I found it at Dave's grocery on Harvard Ave. Yeah and I agree soak it up in the milk for the best results.

That's what these were called! I've been trying to remember for years because they used to be my favorite. Thank you interwebs.

Pretty sure this has toasted coconut in it. If not that, it's made with coconut oil. Either way, it's probably one of the most fattening cereals out there, which is why it was one of my favorites when I was a kid. We had it for breakfast one morning when my friend had spent the night, and she said that the shapes reminded her of pet food.

My Great Aunt turned me on to Cracklin' Oat Bran as a child in the 80's. I LOVED it SO much that I decided anything my Great Aunt fed me must be equally as good. That included brussel sprouts and lima beans... The fun thing about it was that you were supposed to let it soak in milk for just one minute...but then you had to HURRY to eat it before it soaked up ALL the milk. Unfortunately the health police got the recipe changed amid the "oat bran" craze of the 90's and totally ruined it's deliciousness. The coconut oil is all but gone and replaced by too much cinnamon and it takes 5 minutes to soak now. I only hope that one day General Mills will make an Special Retro Edition.

If you want any chance at finding this cereal try the Kelloggs website. At the top right corner you should find a link saying "Where to Buy". (sorry, no links are allowed here). You'll simply punch in your zip code, select product type, select product. BAM! Map to 10 places that sell this cereal. (all places I never visit normally. So, that's why I could never find my favorite cereal!)

We used to carry ziploc baggies of this cereal to school as a snack food. People would see it and ask if it was cat food (there was at the time - may still be - a similar looking brand of cat food) It was funny to us.

I used to have a recipe for oat muffins cut from the box of 'O' shaped cereal (NOT cheerios). I don't have the recipe anymore and can't find the cold cereal. Does anyone out there know what I'm talking about?

I set out today to finally find out if Cracklin Oat Bran changed its recipe....thank you for answering that question - that change totally ruined the taste of the cereal (still better tasting than most cereals, but I have eaten about 2x since the recipe change) - I would LOVE for them to bring back the old recipe (I don't like that much cinnamon)- it was THE best cereal/food!! I really hope someone from the company listens...also, now we know that coconut oil is one of the best things for you! Sure, this is a very small thing in life to ask for, but still :)

I also came looking for info on the recipe change. I got a box of COB this week and it's not what I remember. I wish they would bring back the old recipe.
