Description
Flintstones cereal where Barney used to dress up and steal the cereal in commercials. They used to be flaky like and now they are like puffs.

Fruity and Cocoa Pebbles were first introduced in 1971 by Post Cereal. It has always been a rice cereal and have never been a puff. The texture has never changed, though the colors have. Originally, Fruity Pebbles was just 3 flavors and eventually added more, such as grape, lime and even blueberry. Fred Flintstone has always been the spokesperson for the cereals, and in the commericals, Barney has always asked us to "watch me trick Fred out of his Pebbles." This is my all time favorite cereal and I collect the boxes and have way too many of them to even mention. I continue to eat Fruity Pebbles and now my kids are too. Thee best!

Fruity Pebbles is a good cereal. I used to have the Christmas cartoon for it from the 80s and now I don't have it anymore because the tape got in such terrible condition but I really loved the commercial. It was cute. Cocoa Pebbles is yummy also.

Flinstone's cereal rules. I still buy it and it's a pretty source of fiber.

I love Fruity Pebbles but love Cocoa Pebbles even more. Although when I was a kid the commercials with Barney stealing Fred's Pebbles got old after awhile. But still two great cereals.

In the mid-eighties Fruity Pebbles had a funny commercial. The "free toy" was a character shaped eraser. There were kids at a table drawing pictures while a do-wop song played in the background. "Do-rub-rub. A Fred with two heads?" (the girl actually drew a Fred with two heads!) "Do-rub-rub. Now there's one, instead. Cuz they do-rub-rub." Even as a child this commercial was riduculous!

It took me forever to get the purple Fred but I finally did after about 30 boxes. I still have all the characters available in both red and purple.

@ sheri: that little girl was me! i'm actually looking for a link to that ad to show my daughter. i only have it on vhs, and my vcr is MIA. those were fun times, and yes, the commercials were very silly.

I used to love this cereal... they use to be balls and have a crunch to them... now they are in the form of rice krispies, they don't taste quite the same but they are still okay

Tamara, THANK YOU!! I bought Fruity Pebbles for the first time in YEARS about two weeks ago. So disappointed. I also remember them being little balls/oval shaped pebbles. I was so surprised to see them as flakes and although the taste was what I remember, I sadly won't be buying them again unless they are changed back. So sad :( Also, are you from Canada?? My boyfriend said that they were made differently here than the States. Curious...

Just bought a box of Cocoa Pebbles yesterday for the first time in about 15-20 years. They're flakes now instead of pebbles? Taste the same but still disappointed. They're more like chocolate Special K now. Ontario, Canada

Fruity Pebbles, while honestly not what you or kids should be consistently eating for breakfast, are actually addictive for me. I can actually sit down and put away a whole box, and I'm a medium-size guy. Cocoa Pebbles are tasty, but simply cannot compete with Fruit Pebbles. I think I'm gonna go buy a couple boxes tonight!
