Description
Round puffed wheat cereal. They were covered in honey and tasted like cardboard. They had a green frog on the box and always had a prize inside.

I don't remember ever having this cereal as a child but I did have it just a few months ago and not really liking it very much, just a little. I'll never have it again. Beverly Archer was in one of the commercials from the 80s, she was Iola from Mama's Family. The frog is cute though.

I think this has always been a love it or hate it cereal. I'm down with Smackey the Frog.

No, his name was "Dig Em'" and they were called Sugar Smacks! They still have them but the frog's voice has gotten too cartoony. It used to be really deep. Family Guy, the ultimate 80s mocking show, did an episode where Mayor Adam West builds a solid gold statue of Dig Em lol.

My big cereal was always Fruity Pebbles but my brother couldn't get enough of these. He always grabbed the box of them out of the mini variety packs my mom would buy us. Like I would go after it! I thought they were awful! I always tried (unsuccessfully) to develop a taste for them, though, just so I could tease him. :p

At first I was only eating this cereal from a variety pack but after having one little box, I had to have a full sized box! I love these!

I love how the bag lining the boxes of these is made of super-strong wax-coated paper ... necessary for absorbing all that sweet, sticky honey. This stuff is awesome but it is also SOOOO bad for you. One of the worst "sugar cereals" out there!

My sister rembered that there wasa coupon in the early 80's for free fries at Burger King on the back of this cereal. They shoudl do it again.

I also bought Kashi Honey Almond Flax Cereal and as soon as I tasted it, all I could think of was the cereal with the frog on the box. Haven't had it in years! And yes, they used to be called Sugar Smacks, which is a much more honest description than honey smacks!

Does anyone remember when they replaced Dig'em the frog with that stupid bear named Wally for a short time?
