Aqua Net hairspray has been around forever! It was my mom's brand of choice in the 60s and continued until "Final Net" pump spray hairspray came out. We used the blue can of Aqua Net to hold our Farrah flips and feathered hair in the 70s and even had a can in the file room to spray on our nylon slips when the static electricity in the office I worked at got too bad in the very late 70s.

I was just reading about the old aqua net. Is there any place that I could find the old aqua net,the one that took 2 shampoos to get out? I have been using V05 and tresemme, but I miss the old aqua net, especially the fragrance.

I remember when I would spray my hair with a 1/2of the can of aqua net,I would spend the next two days with a rock hard style. I miss the old formula, is there any old style aqua net still around??

Aqua Net is still manufactured, and honestly, the can hasn't changed much, either. Still available in the pink can, and now in an "unscented" version in purple. It's about the cheapest hairspray on the market- a huge can is under $3 at any mass retailer. It's still out there, ladies, and it still works!

Holy Cow! This stuff made my higher than high 80's do last for days. Once my friend and I did an experiment and sprayed our hair about every 5 minutes to see what would happen - it was like have a shellacked plastic football helmet on! So cool. lol!

The white and pink can is the best! It works every time. Nothing else does for me. It's getting harder to find lately. I ordered a bunch online in case stores stop selling it. You will NOT find a better holding hairspray.

there was an aqua net shampoo and hair gel around the fall of 1986. everything from the 1980s that smelled good was either discontinued or they changed the product so it smells bad. their marketing research(probably comprised of their friends and families opinions)is wrong when they say new fragrances are wanted and that no one wants these old products that smell exactly as they did.

haha. i just finished watching a tv show about the 80s rockers and the women that supported them. like the sunset strip stuff. haha. you should watch it. it has commentary about hair and how they used aqua net. i guess this stuff really must have worked!

I just finished my can of UNSCENTED Aqua Net. I purchased another, and the UNSCENTED now has the new PEUTRID (SP?) scent. I knew something was wrong, when they changed the shape of the can. Why must they mess with something that is so good. Now I can't use the stuff, because of my Chemical Sensitive Severe Asthma. It was the last of the hair sprays out there, of the UNSCENTED, that I could use. To the person who loved the old scent of Aqua Net_it's gone_not there anymore :o( I am hoping that someone from the company is reading these remarks, and brings back the old UNSCENTED_it's not that old_it's just a month ago that I purchased the REALLY UNSCENTED can of the product. They messed up with another good product. Sad to see it go down the tubes. Anyone know of a really, and truly unscented hair spray, please email me at lynnvondran@embarqmail.com Thanks! Lynn

I've used Aqua Net #3 unscented extra super hold for years and years (the purple can). They recently changed the can style, and apparently the formula was changed, too, because now it's not nearly as strong. It just makes my hair wet without much holding power. I emailed the company (Lornamead) May 9th but haven't heard anything from them. I've been buying up all the old style cans I can find in town!
Lynn - May 26, 2009 - Report this comment
Hi Claudia and all !!! I called them, and they claim they didn't change their formula, but they are not telling the truth about the matter. They did change their formula, because, as I said back in April, it stinks! and like Claudia said, it just makes your hair wet and floppy. I tried to go without it, for the little bit I need to hold the hair from blowing in my face with the slightest bit of wind, I figured it that maybe it wouldn't make a difference. Well, after a day of misery with my hair, I decided to do a GOOGLE search. I found many homemade recipes for hair spray!!! Here is what I came up with through reading many of them: Reconstituted Lemon Juice (you know what this is, from one of those little plastic lemons you find near the realy thing) A Few Drops of Rubbing Alcohol A spray bottle *I put about an inch of the juice in the bottle, and add about 6 or more drops of alcohol. WALA!!!!!!!!!!! You have a very health friendly hair spray! And, rather cheap, too. Guess what!!! It doesn't stink! My hair doesn't fall out anymore, and my brush is clean as a whistle!!!! Hope it works for you. It's cheap enough_try it. It works for me. :o) Lynn PS If you have purchased the NEW formula_it's in the NEW can_they will refund your money, if you have your receipt and send it to them. May I suggest everyone who doesn't like the new stuff, call their toll-free number on the can, and report it. If enough of us do that, maybe they will change it back to what it has been for MANY, MANY years in the past. Thanks for your post, Claudia_I was hoping others found it repulsive, as I did. Thanks Mary for your email asking for me if I found anything new to use, it reminded me to post what I am doing now. Next, I will try the Lemon Juice Concentrate, to see if that works. If it does, it is even cheaper than reconstituted lemon juice! I'm all for cheaper products! Have a GREAT day everyone! :o) Lynn

Marie - June 22, 2009 - Report this comment
I know they changed their formula. My hair started falling out and turned to straw. I'm 63 but I've always had healthy hair and always used Aquanet. Suddenly, it wouldn't hold. My hair would be a mess and limp before I got to work. When I visited my daughter and used a can I left at her house, it held. I threw all my cans away. I bought Treseme Super Hold ($3+) at Walmart and love it. It holds better and doesn't damage my hair. Thank God it was the hairspray and not just getting old.

This is a follow-up to my comments above. I printed a copy of my email to Lornamead and mailed it to them, since I didn't get a response to my email. They sent a letter saying the formula didn't change even though the shape of the can did, and they also sent me a coupon for a free can of Aqua Net. I'm glad to hear others of you also think the formula changed and it's not just my imagination! Thanks, Lynn, for the homemade hairspray formula - I never thought of making my own! And thanks to Marie and Nancy for suggestions for other hairsprays.

I'm a huge hairmetal fan and love to tease my hair up big. They stopped selling my favorite hairspray at cvs and I was browsing for a new brand when I spotted the classic pink and white can of aquanet on the bottom shelf and remembered it from some things I had read online. It was only like $3 for a giant can (much cheaper than the other I was buying) and works sooo well. My hair has held up to the Georgia humidity perfectly. I'm only 18, but I'm so glad I bought some Aquanet... It was all dirty and dusty on the top from lack of love :)

Does anyone remember "Hard Rock Hairspray?" I used it to build my wall-o-bangs when I was in college ('84-'88). I googled it but could not find a mention! You could literally hold your (long) hair horizontally and spray it and it would STAY. Also turned white and gooey in your hair and took many shampoos to remove!

I'm also of the persuasion the formula changed. I have really testy hair that waves in random directions if not controlled. Viable subs I've found are: Suave Freeze Hold (black can, purple label) Tresemme Freeze & Control (also black can, purple label) VO5 Max Hold (red can, graffiti artwork label)

Back in the early 60's my father and his brother owned beauty schools in Chicago called Capri---all of the products he used were specially labeled for his salons. Although the spelling is not in Italian, my father and his brother are both from Italy. Well, the manufacturer in Chicago developed Aqua Net for him---it is the only thing from that school---which still exists, that was such a hit it went national. Sadly he never owned the rights to Aqua Net,the manufacturer held that, but at 82 he still chuckles when he sees a can and calls it "my hairspray"...thanks for all the comments---I will show him this page, he'll love it. PS, Aquinetta was a famous actress in the 60's.

max hold hairspray - February 10, 2011 - Report this comment
When I think of max hold, I generally think of a hair spray that glues every piece of hair into a stiff structure. The Shielo Volume Hair Spray is not typically what I think of as max hold because my hair still has movement after spraying. This spray has a lot of oomph without gluing everything down! I am fan because it's allowing me to spray exactly where I need it. It doesn't clog and sprays just the right amount.

All hairsprays had to change their formula a few years back to conform to the new environmental ozone protection laws which, as you all have discovered, ruined the "hold" factor. When I knew this was going to happen, I went out and bought all the "old formula" while it was still on the shelves that I could get. I haven't found anything that works as good. The other day, I found a can of the old formula in my closet and Wow, I really can tell the difference. I wish someone would develop a new eco-friendly version.

I can actually remember when Doritos Cool Ranch chips came out in 1987. A stark contrast from their Nacho Cheese cousins, these chips had some serious kick that in all honesty doesn’t remind me of ranch dressing. Names aside (they were “Cooler Ranch” at some point), my co-reviewer summed up the same way I felt the first time I tried them very quickly, “Wow!” Doritos Cool Ranch chips have come in a blue bag for as long as I can remember, making them easy to spot on the shelf. Their current bag is very simple and features an image of two of the chips and you can even spot the multicolored seasoning on them! As opposed to Lay’s Classic, which go great with anything, I personally love that Cool Ranch Doritos are perfect on their own. I sampled these right after having some nacho cheese Doritos and was immediately reminded of the contrast between the two. The Cool Ranch chips have a strong and instant kick to them. At first you get a hint of cheese but it is then followed by a combination of vinegar and onion and a strong but not face puckering garlic taste. These are all then followed by the enjoyable taste of the corn chip itself. Each bite has equal seasoning and not one chip felt like it was lacking in flavor. Even though at times the flavoring can taste artificial it makes them no less tasty and may even be why you find yourself wanting more! Frito Lay makes many different flavors nowadays but as one of their staple flavors, in fact they even mix flavors in bags now, but Cool Ranch Doritos will always remain as one of the two original “flavored tortilla chip” flavors. Fred Durst Momma - August 03, 2014 - Report this comment
Limp Bizkit is an American nu metal band. Their lineup consists of Fred Durst (vocals), Wes Borland (guitars), Sam Rivers (bass) and John Otto (drums). Their work is marked by Durst's abrasive, angry lyrics and Borland's sonic experimentation and elaborate visual appearance, which includes face and body paint, masks and uniforms, as well as the band's elaborate live shows. The band has been nominated for three Grammy Awards and have sold 40 million records worldwide.[1] Formed in 1994, Limp Bizkit became popular playing in the Jacksonville, Florida underground music scene in the late 1990s, and signed with Flip Records, a subsidiary of Interscope, which released their début album, Three Dollar Bill, Y'all$ (1997). The band achieved mainstream success with their second and third studio albums, Significant Other (1999) and Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water (2000), although this success was marred by a series of controversies surrounding their performances at Woodstock '99 and the 2001 Big Day Out festival. Borland left the group in 2001, but Durst, Rivers, Otto and Lethal continued to record and tour with guitarist Mike Smith. Following the release of their album, Results May Vary (2003), Borland rejoined the band and recorded The Unquestionable Truth (Part 1) (2005) with Durst, Rivers, Lethal and drummer Sammy Siegler before entering a hiatus. In 2009, the band reunited with Borland playing guitar and began touring, culminating with the recording of the album Gold Cobra (2011), after which they left Interscope and later signed with Cash Money Records, but DJ Lethal was asked to leave the band soon after. They are currently recording their seventh studio album, Stampede of the Disco Elephants.

Why are Doritos so good? Our forensic scientist gave us a load of media rubbish. This is what he said: People worldwide enjoy Doritos’s flavour, taste texture and shape. They are easy to hold and easy to dip. They are also good with cheese in an oven to make nachos. They are an easy eat and yet the power that is unleashed in a single bite is even more than a taste sensation. But why are they good for gamers? Gamers like Doritos because they are easy food to eat with one hand on the controller so you can stop yourself from dying of hunger whilst potentially stopping yourself from dying of bullet wounds and knives in-game. Although many helpless Doritos have been selflessly sacrificed for their cause, the gamers that ate them had their health bars refilled and their hunger bars went off the scale. So how did they get so nice? Wikipedia tells us that years and years of sweat tears work effort and a lot of salt went into creating the magic of the Doritos that we eat. This made them officially the best chips that £2.50 can buy. Doritos are cheap but make you cheerful and will make your day a thousand times better after a single satisfying crunch. Doritos will continue to relieve the rumbling stomachs of everyone for years and years to come, because of the secret ingredient which after months of testing, re testing and re re testing, our forensic has managed to identify. The secret to Doritos mystical spell over the people of the world is simple, happiness. The happiness of everyone who decides to take a chomp of these delightful seventh wonder of the world, the happiness of the workers who make Doritos, the happiness of our scientist and the happiness of the martyr Doritos who died for this cause. Rating Doritos get a 5/5 as they are just the best. DISCLAIMER: The Doritos that died were at the mercy of our forensic scientist so if you want to complain go complain to him not to us. R.I.P Lost Dorito souls

Gerald's cat died a few months ag o . KMART Sildenafil citrate, sold as Viagra, Revatio and under various other trade names, is a drug used to treat erectile dysfunction and pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). It was originally discovered by Pfizer scientists Andrew Bell, David Brown, and Nicholas Terrett.[1][2] It acts by inhibiting cGMP-specific phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5), an enzyme that promotes degradation of cGMP, which regulates blood flow in the penis. Since becoming available in 1998, sildenafil has been the prime treatment for erectile dysfunction; its primary competitors on the market are tadalafil (Cialis) and vardenafil (Levitra).

It refers to an educational period of 14–20 years which starts before the age of puberty. During this time the traditional vedic sciences are studied, along with the religious texts contained within the Vedas and Upanishads. This stage of life was characterized by the practice of strict celibacy. Among the Hindu monastic as well as sramanic traditions, Brahmacharya is the term used for the practice of self-imposed celibacy that is generally considered an essential prerequisite for spiritual practice. These characteristics correspond to Western notions of the religious life as practiced in monastic settings.

My wife was very disappointed the way the spray would come out of the can. Ever since the company has changed the spray tips. every time I spray my wife's hear. Too much of the spray would come out at one time. You cannot get an even soft mist to come out of the spray nozzle it comes out way too heavy.I even tried to take the nozzle off of one of the old Cans that the spray nozzle was working the right way. I was going to put the old nozzle on the new can of spray. But you can not even make the good spray nozzle work on the new Can. I talked to other customers in the store if they had problems with aqua net they tell me they had similar problems like I had. Your company needs to go back to the original spray can. That always worked good I felt like you needed to know about this problem. Right now I am not using aqua net hairspray for my family and I always thought aqua net was the best spray out there.

Albert is spot on with his comment. Just puchased a new can it just saturates your hair. Bring the mist back. Old nozzle won't fit, tried to drill it out but drill caught and put a pin hole in top and sprays your finger.

Yes, Albert is correct. Something has been changed with the nozzle, and the spray comes out WAY TOO fast! I have been using Aqua Net since the 80's, and noticed is change in Texas about 4-5 months ago. At first I was able to take the defective can back to the store and find a can that worked the right way. I would test each can in the hairspray aisle. But now I cannot find any cans that work the old way, no matter which store I go to. Aqua Net was cheap and worked really well. I used the unscented purple can. I won't be buying this product any longer, after over 30 years, unless the manufacturer gets it together and fixes this issue.

I thought I maybe got out of date or just "bad" aquanaut so I bought the extra hold and the unscented. BOTH smelled horrible and did nothing but soak my hair down to a sticky flat mess! I HATE IT!!! If it ain't broke, STOP TRYING TO FIX IT! Bring my 80s back!

I read through a few posts... the formula for Aqua Net might not have changed .. but what did change was the propellent they use. They had to because of the CFC removal agreement.. for the ozone layer. Makes since for hairspray and paintcans but not for asthma inhalers. Now they use ethanol (yup a chemical that constricts the lungs) as the propellent. It has killed many asthmatics because the medicine can't get into the lungs and the ethanol blocked the airways. They pushed it through the FDA because of the law.. they never tested it. If they cared about the environment then they would ban smoking. I'll leave you all to figure the rest out. That is why the hairsprays of today do not spray well.
