When it was popular: 1986-8ish
Description: The dresses that had a big bubble for a skirt over a straight skirt never longer than just over the knee lenghth. I also had another pink one with a high mock turtle neck thing that kinda folded down.

I still have my prom bubble dress from the 80s..Its dark blue taffeta with puff sleeves. There is netting inside the skirt to make the bubble effect extra full! I love it and still wear it to the occasional 80s party.

I loved my bubble dress in 6th grade. The one in the photo looks more 50's or 60's while the ones in the 80's (even for formalwear) looked a little more casual and not quite such an extreme bubble. My bubble dress was black with white polka dots. It had short puffy sleeves and the bubble skirt that was knee-length.
