They should reproduce the jackets since this is the 25th anniversary of "Beat it" and "Thriller" But with Michael Jackson's current status, the odds don't look good and it's likely they won't make a comeback. It's a shame too, i'm 18, so i wasn't really around when you could buy them at a normal cost, but i love these things. LONG LIVE THE JACKETS!!

The picture above is actually a "Beat It" jacket from the video. I was about 9 years old when that video came out, and I remember those jackets were very expensive even back then. I saw one on Ebay for about $600. They also sell cheaper ones that are currently produced. They're pretty cool jackets, but too bad MJ made them popular.

I found an original Beat It jacket at the Goodwill for $5.00, & sold it on Ebay for $210.00 last year. That's what I call INFLATION!!!

Maybe now that Michael's dead they'll come back in style. Does anyone else think this might just be an excuse for him to come back as a zombie with his old thriller jacket on?

I had a Thriller jacket I got from my cousin, except the colours were reversed (red trim on black.) I still had it 'til recently, but it more or less disintegrated in the closet. Not that I could still wear it, mind you.

These were popularized by Michael Jackson about 1983 but they pre-date him. The shoulder-flanged, trapunto-stitched, black-and-red jackets were introduced in the late 70s by a variety of new wave/postpunk designers, and things like this were worn by the likes of Gary Numan and Thierry Mugler. In the early 80s, you could see variations of this cut in US chain stores like Chess King and elsewhere.
