These were popular in the late 90s as well, I remember having several pairs very similar to the ones in the photograph.

I had several pairs of them over the years and I wish I could still find shoes like them. Nothing else has ever looked as good on my legs and feet.

This photo looks like Candies from NOW purchased at Kohl's. Eww. The original Candies described above did not look like that at all.

Aaaaah, I loved the Candie's slides popular in the late 70's and thru the mid-80's. Just a wooden high heeled sandal with a leather vamp. Simple and so sexy. I wore a mauve-colored pair to my 8th grade prom.

The kind similar to the ones Olivia Newton John had on in the last 10 minutes of Grease is what comes to mind from reading the description. I also remember my first grade teacher having a pair of wooden wedges with 2 criss-crossed straps over the toe. I best remember the kid version. They had wooden 1" curved soles with a rubber bottom to prevent falling. They had 2 thin canvas ankle straps that criss-crossed in the back and buckled in the front. They made a nice clicking sound that drew its wearer lots of attention. The toe piece had "Candies" printed on it. This piece was so rigid, that unless you had narrow feet, it hurt to wear them with the ankle straps. Such was true for the girl down the street who had a navy blue pair. She wore them like flip flops and tied the straps down to try to prevent from walking on them. She was trying to look cute, but I know her feet hurt.

There is nothing sexier than a woman walking in a pair of Candie's slides. Hearing the sound of one heel clicking on the grouns while the other slaps against the bottom of her foot, while watching it all, is the ultimate turn on. Any way a woman wears her Candie's is sexy. She may wear them with a skirt and pantyhose, or she may wear them with a pair of tight jeans, showing off her sexy feet adorned with a hot red toenail polish, toe rings, and a sexy ankle bracelet. These are hottest shoes ever. Girls, if you still own the older style, wear them. If not, buy a pair of the newer Candie's slides, and check out the looks you'll get. Candie's...SWEET!
