Description: The small comb with a handle that we all kept in the back pocket of our corduroy pants. Different color every day was the coolest. Mostly we had them just for looks. Once in a while, we would use them on our feathered hair.

This was big in the late 70s-1980. You HAD to have a big plastic comb in your back pocket. One guy collected combs from other girls and had them all in his pocket at once, to be "cool" because he had those girls' combs.
In one town in Oaklahoma it is against the law to have a comb in your pocket!
I agree with Shatzi... that was a late 70's thing. Perhaps it funneled down to 1980 or 81.
My sister still does this but she always gets someone to cut off the handle part.
I remember this! I was in 4th grade (1980). For some reason, red was the cool comb color...OMG i forgot all about that...nostalgia :)
We definitely did that in the early 80's. Especially at the Roller Rink. Then you'd try to skate around and steal the comb of the guy you thought was cute.
