I still love these and wear them myself. They look very professional to me. I have a dark blue one and a grey one and both are by Ralph Lauren for women.

Really popular in the earliest 80s, not just for business wear but also for more casual dress. In 1979/80, I had a button-front, long-sleeved shirt in narrow, vertical, dark-grey-n-white stripes with a white tuxedo collar. I think it was meant to look like something out of the late 19th or early 20th century, sort of barbershop quarter looking.
