Oh, man, BUM equipment, the world's most stupid clothing line. I always thought some bigwig suit-type business guy somewhere was laughing all the way to the bank because of this trend where people proclaimed they were BUMs to the world in an effort to be cool. My boyfriend always said B.U.M. stood for "Big Ugly Man".

Being one of the original founders of b.u.m. equipment, the name stood for " boys until men"... Everybody wants to be a bum and be comfortable... no worries, no debt, just living a carefree life... be B.U.M. - Never grow up...

The truth is, B.U.M. had no meaning, look it up in Wikipedia and other sources. They have been bankrupt due to poor management and sold to some foreign firm and are now just into licensing the name. They are marketing cheap imports. Buy American, not this junk.

I used to work at our local ShopKo dept. store, we sold alot of B.U.M. Equipment clothing. Mostly to TRAILER TRASH! The homeless wouldn't even wear such GARBAGE!

b.u.m. is just fine to wear.even this brand is too cheap, actually the price doesn't matter, you are just the one who's responsible on how you will look. lousy people who wear expensive clothes or dresses will look just the same with the others who are wearing cheap ones. but if you know how to carry your clothes properly and decently,if you are real fashionable,no one will tell you that you're only wearing cheaps ones. it's not really the brand of clothes,it's how you wear them.

my crew wore (bum equipment) clothing for many years in high school, the clothing was cheap, but who cares while in the moment it was very cool to wear. I liked the wide neck light sweatshirts with the t-shirt slightly exposed on one side - ( lol ). Wow how times have changed !

jimro, I am not sure how old you are but I recall this stuff being sold to "low market" types at ShopKo around like 2000. In the 80's it certainly wasn't though. I never owned a BUM Equipment shirt myself but I do remember it was more on par with mid range brands such as Ocean Pacific (another brand that has now gone the way of Walmart and other low-end retailers, but was more expensive in the 80's).

I found a pair of black B.U.M. track pants that have no outside advertizing, no side stripes, just plain - very comfortable and most important, POCKETS, which you don't see very often, for my cell phone and lip balm. Tonight I'm off to Walmart to get another pair exactly the same!

Took a bike ride today wearing my B.U.M. Long sleeve T/with dark blue band around the collar. Just as comfortable as the day I bought it back in 1992. 90% cotton 10% polyester made in Guatemala. One of my oldest t's !

I remember BUM Equip and Body Equip from the late 80s. At that time BUM wash't cheap and the teens wanted them. Bum Blues, BUM and BUM Equipment sweatshirts. The Merry-Go-ROUND stores had them.

I'm wearing some BUM snow pants right now. Had I known back when I got them (the late 80s) how incredible these pants would be, I'd have bought a dozen pairs. Totally wind-proof and warm while being lightweight. None of the good stuff sticks around.

I love the sweat shirts they had back in the 80's. They made sweat shirts and pants to keep warm ..and that's exactly what they did!!! Now a days..these idiots will pay big money for just a designer Brand name and freeze their asses!! Idiots make the rich get richer..stupid is what stupid does!!! B.U.M For me meant ... Comfort, affordable, well made, and warmth...I wish they would do a comeback and keep it that way and not go with the spoiled brat trends like today..

Right now I am wearing a purple vintage 1980s Bum Equipment t-shirt. I purchased in the 80S and still almost like new! I also have matching gym shorts but the shorts are showing wear. These are 30 years old! I bought a khaki colored pair at the same time but being my preferred color, they disintegrated years ago. I loved them till the end!
