I was about 9 or 10 when these were popular. I won five of them at our county fair and wore them on the belt loop of my jeans. I thought I was sooo cool! My Uncle Mac (who was a champion smoker) saw them clipped to little niece's pants laughed until he choked and asked me, "Rabbit, what are doing with roach clips on your pants?!" Looking back it WAS pretty funny because I just thought they were pretty feather things...Ah, the innocence of a child....

I had one in just about every color... My dad would buy me one most every weekend that I spent w/him. I must have been about 7 or 8, they would sell at litle roadside "flea markets."

I grew up in an affluent community so when these hit the scene only the "trashy" girls wore them. I thought they were pretty but didn't dare go against the norm, bummer.
