Sex: Female

Description: Gloria Vanderbilt's were dark blue or black denim with white top-stitching. The logo was a conspicuous, embroidered swan above the front pocket. My sister used to coordinate the color of the swan with her blouses and skinny belts.

When I was about eight I got a pair with pink stitching, they were really cool, i would also wear them with a puffy sleeved pink and grey striped Sweat Shirt by Eva JOIA-the kind of stuFf yuo'd see in shops nowadays!

in the early 80's my dad was a very strict minister. he would never allow me to wear jeans. i had to sneak and go to a yard sale and buy a pair of gloria vanderbilt jeans. i hid them in my drawer and when i got a chance i would sneak and try them on and look at myself in the mirror.

I have been buying Gloria vanderbuilt for over a year -- loved them until the last 2 pair I bought. The waist band is cut on the bias -- they just keep growing and growing. I won't buy another pair -- I feel cheated.

I always wondered if Gloria herself ever wore those. I can still see her in the commercials smiling and talking with her teeth clenched.

Saw on Gloria's son's show a girl who's first shoplift had been Gloria Vanderbilt jeans. Really awkward for Anderson, but it was cool to get a look into what teens at that time were into.

Gloria came out with the first pair of designer jeans in the early 80's. They were black denim, which simply didn't exist and they were made for Murjani by Gloria. I HAD to have a pair and they were like $63 which in 1980 was a FORTUNE! My mom bought me a pair for my 16th birthday in 1982. Their ad line was that they fit "like the skin on a grape." A few years later they lost their designer status and became mainstream, and you could buy them at gemco, walmart -- anywhere.
