These were beautiful. Designed by Jessica McClintock, I believe. Very Victorian-esque.

I loved my Gunny Sax dress. It was so feminine and beautiful. I loved the buttons that went all the way down the front. It was the nicest thing I owned in high school.

When my ex-wife and I lived in Oakland, CA in the late 70's, she bought a few pieces of Gunny Sack clothing. The one that I remember most was a sheer blouse that was a tanned flesh color that showed off her beautiful hour-glass figure. I have only seen a couple of Gunny Sack dresses since I moved from California but everything that I have seen, I have considered about the most beautiful and dainty of women clothing.

I had a lot of Gunny Sax dresses - I loved them. I used to buy them and also the 1928 jewelry...the two went together really well. They were so feminine! I wish I knew of some place where you can buy the clothing. I know you can buy the jewelry on Amazon.

My daughter, a High School Senior, pulled a late 70's Gunny Sack out of the closet. She was laughing at it and then tried it on and fell in love with it.

When I was a kid, I remember my mom talking about Gunny Sax in hushed tones like it was the best clothes in the world. I could have cared less though, I was into bright Esprit stuff.

I had this green, lace up, cleavage enhancing dress that was gorgeous. At Foothill College Theatre, I altered it into a wench costume. Last year, while at Hempfest 2008 in Seattle I saw the exact dress on s street performer. I giggled to myself remembering how much better I filled out that dress in 1974!

I got married in a gunny sax sundress. I threw away all the pics when I divorced in 89 though. Too bad, would have been cool to post.

Wow...I live in the dark. I had two Gunny Sax dressing, one for 8th grade graduation and the other for a high school dance. Here I am trying to find a dress for my step daughters prom and I thought they were still making them. Darn!

I owned three of these. One was from the mid seventies the others were bought in the early eighties. I still own two one has been passed down to my nieces. I also had several patterns and I have found a couple more at garage sales and thrift stores. I even found a couple of children's Gunne Sax patterns I'm making some outfits for my great nieces for the holidays. It's wonderful to share beautiful FEMININE clothing with them.

I went to a private Baptist High Scool in the 80s and it was the dress you had to have. We were required to wear dresses every day. If you didn't own one you were in the out crowd. I made my own since the cost was beyond my parents budget.

I had one of these my freshman year in college -- it was black and had 3/4 length lace sleeves that fit tight around your arm. I wore it to my 5 year class reunion!

Warm and fuzzy....These dresses bring back great memories!! I was a Rainbow Girl in the early 80's and lived in a small town (Sequim Wa). Gunny Sack dresses were the dress to have back then and they were truly "pretty". I loved mine and I wish my mom wouldn’t have sold it a garage sale. Oh well...I have the memory of the "sack" :-) Jamie

I wore my Gunne Sax (cream color) to the Prom and I am SO SO SO GLAD I KEPT IT! I still have it and it's beautiful as ever, very good quality those dresses were. I'd post a photo if I knew how to do it. Mine was long sleeved, high collar, tiny buttons, big ruffle around the bottom tail of the full length skirt. A sash around the waist that tied in the back. Big lace ruffles that came to a "V" on the bodice. Yep, Gunne Sax were gorgeous!
