The tiny little bit in the description doesn't tell ya much, being just the title of a Prince song from 1985, but hats for women were seen more in the 80s than they had been in the previous decade. They were a revival style, of course; even Prince's "Raspberry Beret" song was written during his 60s-influenced psychedelic phase. What you really saw a lot of starting in the late 70s and continuing through most of the 80s was women occasionally wearing, like, 1940s-style pillbox hats or 50s-style punchbowl or picture hats for dressy occasions, something that was pretty much out during the 70s. Think "Dynasty" or "Dallas" to jog your memory.
