And you had to spike and tease your hair above it! Even better when you sprayed pink or purple tint into your hair.

The headbands worn in the eighties were different from the ones worn in the late sixties/early seventies. The ones in the eighties came in in 1981 and were worn under the hair, still horizontal across the forehead, but under the hair. This was about the time eighties "big hair" went mainstream, so the hair was teased out big over the headband. The ones from the late 60s/early 70s were worn over the hair to hold long, natural hair off the face, Native American-style.
