Dove Shorts came out after Dolphins in California. The Dove shorts though, were not as popular as the Dolphin brand. If it didn't have the dolphin, it was no good. Also, the cut was not as sexy as the Dolphin version.
your right, the real Dolphins fit much sexier than the straighter cut Doves. My Dolphins were half pink half white & always wore them with a half t-shirt.
The Dove label would also peel off so you could try to pass them off as another brand. In Hawaii, Dolphin's were also the best.
