I disagree on the date. I remember in 87-88-89 everyone had ripped jeans on. Ripped, acid washed Levi's 505, with a matching, puffy shouldered, acid washed jacket (not ripped but usually with a Rock band patch over the whole back of it), lots of chain belts, and black suede boots with heels!! I still have my jeans, and the boots!!! Think Lita Ford:)

I totally agree with Staci Autumns...definitely a 1987-1989 trend. I wasn't such a rocker type so I wore my ripped jeans with thermals (white or pink) underneath. I also had a pair of ripped jeans that my mom helped me sew red plaid fabric behind the holes. Then I wore a red plaid shirt that matched. I thought I was the stuff in 5th grade with that outfit. LMAO...so dorky.

Actually when I was a Jr. in High School in 1972, we all wore holey and ripped jeans. All my friends would bring their jeans to my house cos I knew how to sew cool patches on them and embroider them.

My parents would make me get rid of them. They'll yell at me if they see me wear thoses jeans.

the once cool thing of wearing jeans with massive holes in them, oh how if we wore them now how much they would be in fashion. boyz used 2 wear the boxer shorts hanging out of the holes.

i have to agree with the date. joe elliott of def leppard made these popular. i worked at merry go round and after the d.l. concert everyone came in asking for them. we carried al the rockstar clothes. i remember running out of the jeans with shotgun wholes in them. my friend and i got no name jeans and shot them with his brothers shotgun. we sold these in the high school parking lot. everyone assumed i stole them from work:) which i didnt. but thats why they wanted them. payed for alot of partying.

In the late 80s to about 92 it seemed as if all my jeans had holes in them. I had maybe one pair that didn't. Both my sisters also wore them, my younger sister was one of the only people in her class whose parents would let her wear them.

I started the fad in '85. I fell up (not down) a flight of stairs in a resort town, and the knee of my jeans ripped from seam to seam. I could not afford to throw away a new pair of Levis, so I wore them...holes and all! Guys loved them:)
