When it was popular: early 80's
Description: Very popular with the preppy crowd. Shoes were primarily low or flat heeled, ballerina style, in lots of colors, often with bows. Canvas purse covers that buttoned onto a wooden frame were also popular. Colors such as kelly green, bubblegum pink, with calico print linings and little appliques such as frogs and flowers.

Anyone remember the name of the wool, short jackets with gold buttons, in solid colors like red, green, navy or black? Very preppy. Driving me crazy trying to remember what they were called.

Those wool jackets were called "boiled wool".. they were great ! very warm !
