The most common miniskirts in the 80s where I lived (Texas) were straight, light blue denim ones to the lower thigh and the ones the British called "rah-rah skirts," gathered onto a hip yoke with one or two flounces to the lower thigh and in cotton jerseys, sweatshirt material, or lightweight denim. Before about 1982-83, they were considered too "punk" or "new wave" to be widely worn in my high school but became normal after that, and now mini lengths are just another standard look that is part of normal clothes. Hard to believe they were considered an out-of-date 60s throwback in the mid- to late 70s.

I always loved mini-skirts, but I like the kind that come down to the center of the thigh.
