I always loved to see some of the kids in my class wearing those jackets. I wanted one in the worst way but felt at the time, girls wore them mostly. Well nowadays I came across a rainwear site and they had remakes of those jackets. Came complete with white cords throught the hood and waist. They had all the shiny colors too. So I bought my favorite, A shiny clear blue one and on a rainy day at the stadium or concert I just love wearing it.Its exactly like the ones of the 80s.A total dream come true. Rainwear really is kinda unisex anyways...

We used to buy ours at the local mall at "The Limited". They had them in all kinds of colors. Mine was blue. You had to be careful because if you caught it on something they would rip.

These were very popular in the early 80s especially. I remember seeing them for sale in all colours at most markets, and also at shops like C&A's around 1981 - 1984. Lots of teenaged girls wore them at this time, and the most popular colours seemed to have been blue or red, and the least popular white or black. They were almost always transparent PVC with a zip and a thick white cord at the bottom, and usually on the hood too. I was at school at the time and quite liked them, but they really were something that only the girls wore. In the eraly 80s transparent PVC raincoats were popular with women in general (especially older women) and most high street shops (discount shops in paticular)sold them in all colours. Most of these were knee length with a draw string hood and a belt, and they usually fastened with poppers. As someone here pointed out, none of these lasted that long and your mum or gran always seemed to be buying a new one because of a tear. They were so cheap that they weren't worth repairing. Again, these were a women's fashion and very few men (except elderly men) seemed to wear plastic raincoats in the 1980s.

I had to wear green jelly jacket all the time summer and winter. My mum replaced that with a full length, light blue see through plastic mac when i was about 14. it didn't have a hood so i was given a clear plastic rain hat to wear when it was raining. As a young girl i hated wearing the mac but now i have a see through pink mac an wear it all the time, wish they were easy to find now.
