I still love the UNK sign! It will always represent cool, layed-back times for me!

I love peace signs, but I remember back in the 80's when they were having a resurgence a bunch of crazed Christian groups started saying it was a symbol of Satan with a broken cross, and my school wound up banning them during the controversy. I was so mad because it was not even a religious based school but a public school.

In the cynical and dark eighties, these were considered 60s-revival, as out of fashion as 70s bell-bottoms. People still knew they were cool, though. Sixties-revival designers like Stephen Sprouse would incorporate them into their clothes. At the end of the eighties and more and more in the nineties, some rap groups would sport peace signs, but it was still very out of step with the eighties. You'd even see rap groups with the very similar-looking Mercedes symbol on chains around their necks, kind of cynically suggesting a peace sign but meaning nothing but monetary wealth,
