I'm trying to find those black and white printed scenes with denim blue jeans colored in. Did they ever have a name? Some were couples, some were solo's but the jeans were vivid denim color on a black and white scene, jeans often torn

I remember ripped-knee jeans, cut in 501-style, being real popular in 1986-87.

When your talking back in the 80,s.most ripped and torn jeans, mostly were levis worn from new until ripped and torn and treadbear, patched sometimes, also reconstuted into flares, from old jeans.I think the fashion back then was more about fashion than about designers making big money. I do think that todays pre ripped jeans look rubbish, and hanging half way down looks the worse thing ever. The denim fabric looks rubbish to the 80,s made denim, thiner chepper to produce. in 1978 I brought pair shrink to fit levis, wore them until stared getting shabby, then they became work jeans in 1987 they were still usable and had few patches on knees and butt, but still going strong.
