Actually, these were almost out of style by the 80's. We had them in the 1970's, and half the kids in my grade school wore them. The black ones were rare. The most popular style was the Camel-Color suede. I remember the big G.A.S.S. letters on the tan rubber soles very clearly. I really do wish they still made these, I'd get some for old times' sake in a heartbeat!

I remeber my Grandma telling my cousin to put his foot down because the G had worn off and she thought that was "naughty"

I hope someone finds a pair of these in their attic and sells them to me on ebay! I had the black ones. I also remember the 'G' wearing off the bottom and everyone would put their sole down in the soft dirt...immature I know...but oh I wish I had a pair of these again. If someone starts making them again I also will buy a pair for the whole family!

I have no greater humuliating story of my pre-teens then being forced to wear those gigantic GASS shoes. I laugh about it now as i tell the story but man it was horrible. I would love a picture of them so my children can see how good they have it.

Gass shoes were "IN" back then and we didn't have much growning up but when I got those shoes boy did I feel special. Yes we were immature about the G wearing off also.

Oh My God I cant believe I am not the only one who remebers these shoes. I have a class pic and I am wearing the camel colored ones. I miss them. I bought a pair of shoes "I think Mudd" from Kohls with that great wedge heal and I love them. Reminds me of them....

I still have a pair of black ones. Had to have 'em back in the early 80's. All the cool "burnouts" had 'um. A few "jocks" wore the tan ones. Didn't like when they relocated the orange lettered GASS tag from along-side the laces, to along side the heal.

All the 'burnouts' at my high school wore the black G.A.S.S. Lol! When we had parties we would hang a sign that said, 'NO BLACK G.A.S.S. SHOES' Good memories!

LOVED these shoes. The BLACK ones were cool at my school. The girls would put fancy shoelaces in them like hearts, bears, stars, rainbows. I was 12.

I wore GASS shoes when I was a little girl growin up in the early 80's. And yes, the "G" in the bottom wearing off so it said ASS...I remember that like it was yesterday. Fun times...
