Description
Sex: Female
Type of clothing: Overalls
When it was popular: 1981-1984
Description: Available in every color of the pastel rainbow, these candy-coated cotton overalls featured flimsy string ties at the top instead of the standard heavy-duty suspenders. The logo was an inverted triangle sewn onto the center back and sported an iced-cream cone with the words A. Smile on top and Gelati below. The only girls who could pull this look off were the snotty cheerleaders or drill-team members -- anyone over 120 pounds looked like a pastel dairy farmer. Pale pink was the most popular color at my high school.

I had the lavender jeans. I wore them mainly with a cream colored sweater with lavender hearts. I loved those jeans! They were so comfy! Of course now that I'm 38 and I'm no longer a size 3, I'd probably look like a cow in them.

I had light blue ones, I loved mine, but it was heard to re-tie them if you had to go to bathroom. I wish they would've been in style more then a couple years. Maybe someone will design them again. They have with everything else

I had the overalls in yellow, they were on serious sale, probably due to the color. This was 84 while I was in Jr. High...

I got a pink pair in 1981. I was 18. At the Miller's Outpost store in Tarzana, CA. For some reason, they were a total guy magnet!!! I wore them until they were a rag. How I wish I had saved them just for the memories! My fave piece of clothing EVER!!!

Hey Pam, I remember Sara jeans. They had sparkly threads woven in with the denim if I remember correctly. They also had a star embroidered on the back pocket. I think they also use to call them Stardust Jeans.

I totally want these purple overalls! If you have them to sell anyone-please give em' up!! We use to wear these back in 1981. They ran super small though and even those that could wear a size zero like I did in JR High, still had a hard time fitting into these pants....^&*%$

I had a pair of A Smile Jeans and they fit so great. It was 1978 and I used to wear them to the roller rink. Wow...
