Description: SKIDZ were the most fashionable pants any kid in the 7-15 age group catagory could wear. They were made of cotton and had many different colors and designs. Everything from stripes to checkers were seen on these pants around the streets of Northern Virginia, just outside of Washington DC. The SKINZ looked like pajama pants, they were straight legged and were tightened by a drawstring. The only way one knew they were SKIDZ, was because each had a yellow triangular sign with a car followed by skid marks(just like a street sign) on the right rear pocket.

I just recieved an e-mail about the 80's. A girlfriend commented about SKIDZ not being a part of the list. If you grew up through the 80's and 90's it will "SHOOT you through the HEART"!!! (HAHAHA)
I loved skidz. I use to have about 4 or 5 pairs. We use to "peg" the bottom of the pants so they were not so wide. I wish you had a picture of the pants.
the most rediculous trend that EVERYONE including me fell into. I had black skidz with the blue yield signs on them. nothing matched but I didnt care. they were really comfortable.
All you needed in 88 or 89 to look cool were Skidz(pegged of course) a champion sweatshirt and hi-top black reeboks(MINT)
I always ask people if they remembered these pants and no one could. I thought forever that I imagined it so I was glad to that it really existed!
I remember these vividly. I even worked at a Merry-Go-Round in '88 and sold them! Funny, huh.
i still have mine ,i sleep in them. 19yrs old and still look good.
How could I forget my SKIDZ. My girlfriend and I had a matching pair of white with black stripes and turquois and yellow streaks. I used to match them with some Le Coq Sportifs with the same turqois and yellow color scheme. We were soooo dope!

i remember skidz well. there was a time when that's all i wore to school.
and i remember the fat kid whose mom took them in on the sides and they fit tight on! lol
I WAS 18 AND HAD MULTIPLE PAIRS! THEY WERE THE MOST COMFORTABLE PANTS EVER MADE! WOULD LOVE A PAIR FOR HALLOWEEN!!!!!

I was in 8th grade when I got 2 skidz outfits for back to school!! You couldn't tell me nuttin!!! I had a pair of green plaid overalls, and, of course, I only buttoned one side so one could see the matching skidz tshirt underneath!! I just saw myself in a pic from highschool and I was wearing the shirt!!! Damn! God bless the internet!!!
I live in Michigan and they were HUGE here in 88-89. I was 9 years old and had black and white checked overalls and green and yellow pants and I was the dopest kid around. If you had Skidz AND Z-Cavarichi's, black of course, you were the COOLEST. and LOL at the Cautions! I totaly had a pair of those before the skidz cause they were CHEAPER!!!

yo, these pants takes me back to my childhood. i went to Frederick Douglass High School, in Baltimore, Md and we rocked the Skidz so much that my principle banned them from the school.
I'm from Baltimore too and remember kids wearing their Skidz to the ankels so that you could see their fancy Scooby Doo Boxers.I was a punk and loved plaid pants so I wore them with my Doc Martens.I hated wearing jeans sometimes and the Skidz were snazier then sweats lol.It did'nt mater what scene you ran with because they were just cool,comfortable pants.

I distinctly remember Skidz...In fact, I remember wanting them in 6th grade but not having the guts to buy them because I didn't think I was cool enough to pull it off. It wasn't until I was in my mid 20's that I put on my first pair of Skidz...I went to an 80's party and a friend loaned me a pair. They were fantastic.

my nephew and brothers were all having a bottle rocket and roman candle fight one year and my nephew had on a pair of baggy skidz with all his ammo in the back pocket well the pants actually exploded right off his butt!so hysterically funny istill crack up at the thought of those pants flying through the air!

I lived in New Jersey and had some and have talked about them in Florida and no one here seems to know what they are either. Did they only come in one size? Thats kind of what I remember and I also think they were either 19 or 29 dollars, for almost every pair. God they were ugly! I think mine were green plaid.
Skidz were really expensive around me around 45 - 50 dollars!!! Cool comfortable pants though, I always wanted them but never had enough money to buy them and my parents would of laughed at me if I asked for 50 dollars for those pants. LOL.

Definitely wore Skidz back in the day. My pair was black and white with an elastic waist and elastic cuffs at the bottom of the leg. So sick.
Very recently, I was on a flight to San Fran, and sat next to the guy who invented these things. Nice guy, gave me the whole story. Funny.
We rocked Skidz in Columbus, GA and I often meet people who don't recall them. I am so serious about Skidz. I love them very much so. I was in Jr. High school when these pants hit the scene. Black and green checkered skids pants. Hypercolor shirt and Reebok pump shoes. Not to mention all the friendship bracelets going up my arm covering my Swatch watch. That was the look. And I laugh at the wat kids dress today
This is so funny! I had 3 or 4 pairs. I think I wore an orange plaid pair with a Doors T-shirt to the first day of ninth grade! They were great- we couldn't wear shorts so the lightweight fabric was awesome in the Florida heat!
Oh the skids...def had 2 pairs n the shorts...mine were purple n gold plaid...I had the green red plaid shorts...n the white n black....had the swatch watches...classsic....even wore the tights under with mary janes in summer......
Just bought 3 pairs at garage sale new w/tags. not bad price $1.00 each.. I wore a pair for 1st time yesterday.. Maybe Mr. Skidz should restock in stores.

they had a rad feel, something went off when you saw that cool logo. Plaid pathces under the jean? AWESOME!! Rocked them with the wrist wallet...
Still have mine and they look so 2012! A beach-y madras plaid in faded yellow, mauve, blue; paired with a casual loosely fitted beige T and a nice tan ... Skids eternal! If I only had my '80's figure back! Thy need some 20yr old to sport them now.
I've worn through my second pair of skidz. They are the best, comfortable, baggy the best colors. I'm wearing my pink white and black plaid right now and would LOVE to find more!!

I had 2 pairs in 4th-5th grade. My mom still has a pic of me with my white/black checkered Skidz shorts with an NWA 100 Miles & Runnin shirt. LOL, being a white boy living in the suburbs helped me get away with rocking an NWA shirt back in 89. I had the shorts until I got pushed into a friends pool that had just been shocked with chlorine, ruined my Skidz & my purple Hypercolor shirt
I remember 89 I beg my mother for a pair she said I'm not paying 50 for some damn pajamas lol.So I finally found them on sale at woodies for 29$ she cave in and got me some short I was so siced.

Skidz and a champion with a fat/phat gold chain was slick. Pegged at the bottom of course and no cheap champion from the outlet...had to have the logo embroidered on the chest and the patch on the right cuff!
