At my school, Keds were very cool especially with the preppy set. However, white was just the beginning for us. It was considered very cool to have Keds in just about every color and pattern imaginable to go with every outfit. I had several colors and a pair of plaid Keds that didn't go with anything very well but of course I wore them anytime I could. This is terrible but I remember thinking it was lame to wear FAKE Keds without the little blue rubber piece on the back. I didn't realize some kids might not be able to afford the real thing or maybe their parents were unwilling to buy them. It was later cool to wear Keds without laces and if a hole was worn in the toe that was NOT a bad thing at all.

Oh how I wish Keds would make the Men's champion like they did in the 80's. The Men's version they make now, in my opinion, is ugly. Do not like the styling at all! They should have just made it a unisex shoe, like Vans and most other sneakers.

I have always liked how Keds looked on women when the shoes got worn down, especially when the quality was better back in the day. The bottom sole would last forever, meaning girls would wear them long after they got holes in the toes of the canvas and the outsole started separating from the canvas. I always found this sexy for some reason, kind of like worn jeans is often fashionable. Nowdays the the bottom sole wears out long before the canvas and looks like crap when it starts flopping around looking like it's about to fall off.
