Yes..they were very popular. I've managed to buy my son, who's 15, two pair. One red & white, and one solid white pair. He has started a new "trend" at his highschool. Everyone is asking him where to find them..and I just laugh. The spotbilt.com site no longer sells the coach style, I bought his red/white ones on that website just a few weeks before they stopped selling them (July 08). I had spotbilt shoes during High school from 79 to 83 and after till mid 80s till I could not find them any longer I had them in true coaches shoe the heaver duty ones in white with the dot on the back of the shoe with the higher ankle support they where awesome I wish I could find them again but Hide who originally made them is long gone

Sorry guys, this isn't a "Boston Thing". We were wearing these in 77 out west at Reno High. Just wore-out my last white and red pair. Wish they were still available, most comfortable shoe ever. My kids thought they were hilarious, oh how little they know!

I can't beleive it, someone's selling ORIGENAL IN THE BOX- (not those nasty knock-off's), Spot-bilt coaches shoes on eBay. They are spendy though. I don,t care, I got me some, baby. They feel soooooooo goooooood.

I talked to the guy through eBay. He won't budge on the price. As soon as I can get my hands on $280 bucks, I'm gettin me a pair of black ones. He might budge if I get two pair- he better!!!

I got my first pair in 1987 when I was in college and actually still have them although they are pretty beat up. They saw a lot of concrete.Then I got another pair in 2007 which after they quit making them I don't wear as much to keep them in decent condition.They are very well made and comfortable. The only drawback that I could see with them was that the heels would wear to the outside fairly quickly. I don't know if anyone else noticed this or if it just me.You can check out a couple of videos on youtube of coaching shoes. One shows an old pair vs. a new pair and the differences between the two.

You have to continuously look on EBAY. Every few weeks or so over the past few years I've scanned EBAY and have bought many pairs of white and black in sizes 7.5, 8, 8.5 and 9. I also got a black Champion pair that is very similar. I've paid between $25 and $50 including shipping, never more. no doubt these spot bilts were the shoe in early 1980s.... dedfinitely a boston thing...dance factory on lanswdowne wouldn't let us in with our white/celtic green spot bilts..go reading rockets

just finished turkey day dinner and the nieces & nephews making comments, could not remember ever seeing me without my spot-bilts on the classic whites. got to agree on the Boston thing. still have an old worn out pair I can not part with. Till I find new ones. No luck out there.

I wore these shoes all thru high school in the late 1970's. I found a local sports store that went out of business a few years back. I asked if they had any in the back room & they found 3 pairs in my size. All black. Made in the USA. I bought all 3 pairs. My dog ate one pair, but I still have 2 pairs I can rely on. It's too bad they went out of business, because Spot-Bilt were the shoes to have.

I lived in Somerville mass in the 70s the original factory spotbilt was there on cedar St my friend Joey's yard was connected to spot bolts yard joe's mother knew a guy that worked there and he would steal them she would sell for 20 bucks went joe's house tell his ma the size she would have them next day these were the original whites EVERYONE had em people would say to me those look like golfing shoes haha they were the best forget what year but spotbilt closed down thy stopped making them if you hunted around you could find them that was in the 90s you would be lucky if you can find now in 2020..
