Description
Sex: Both
Type of clothing: Shorts
When it was popular: 1984-1988
Description: Loud hawaiian print shorts that came just above the knee. Drawstring waist. I remember one summer, my mother gave my sister and I each 0 to get summer clothes. We agreed to buy as many Jams and tank tops as possible and go communal with our wardrobe. The look was a pair of Jams, and 1-2 tank tops in coordinating colors, with white keds (laces removed) and no socks. Another cool combo was a pair of Jams, same shoes and a college logo sweatshirt. This was the perfect outfit for patrolling the local park/basketball court on summer evenings.

These were awful!! Years later, in college, our cheerleading coach had ordered these horrible long shorts for us for camp. We were so embarassed! We cut the shorts off shorter, much to the horror of our coach, but we still nicknamed our squad "The Jam Girls" in homage to those horrid 80's shorts!!

I loved the heck outta my Jams in elementary school. They were comfy and ugly, looking back...but honestly I think they were more flattering on most people (especially boys) than the crazy 70's type of shortie shorts that were popular at the same time!

I was too cheap to buy a pair, so I bought a pattern and made several pairs out of drapery material. They were the coolest!

I had generic JAMS. My dad would NOT spend 30 bucks for shorts so he bought me fake JAMZ but they looked the same & did the same things so that summer I JAMMED in my JAMZ

We always wore our Jams with a pair of cut off bluejean shorts over them..The jean shorts were shorter than the Jams so that they hung out at the bottoms...Classic!

I didn't have any brand name Jams, but I did have something similar. Mine were on a red background and had big, colorful Hawaiian print stuff all over them. I hardly ever had brand name anything. :(

I still love my JAMS!! They are now sleepwear, however.

I wear my freakin' jams all the time. In fact, I met my boyfriend Derek because he stopped me in the granola aisle at the Whole Foods so he could tell me he liked my jams sooo much.

I didn't know JAMS was an actual brand or trademark. I wore (I guess you would say fake ones) from K-Mart and Bradlees from 1986-1990.Everyone called them jams even if they were fake. I loved them. Then in 1992 my dad and my friend's dad were STILL wearin em. We would talk about it at school and laugh in embarrassment!!!

Back in the mid 80's I had the loudest, wildest JAMZ (yes, with a "Z") button down shirt. I called it my "jesus shirt." Everytime I'd wear it, someone would inevitably say, "Oh, jesus..."

I had 3 kids that wore jams. To get even with them I would wear one red converse and one yellow converse---they cried that I embarrassed them.

I remeber JAMS well and had about 3 pairs, one of which was a favorite. I seemed as though no two pair were exactly alike which was kinda neat. I remember buying mine at BON-TON in Pennsylvania, as it was one of the few places they could be purchased at the time in our area.
