Stirrups were cool. My friend, who was 18 years, older than me, and I would wear them. This was probably in 1990, I'm guessing. I was 8 and she was 26.

Even in the 80's and early 90's my mom would try to dress me in these stirrup pants and as soon as i would get to school i cut off the stirrups, even as a child i knew better.

I remember hacking-off the stirrups because as you moved during the day the crotch of the pants would end up between your thighs and you had to constantly hike them up. Most girls in school wore ones where you could see they cut off the stirrups!

In college ('83-'86) we wore stirrup pants all the time, usually with a huge oversize sweater in the winter time. I had so many colors.....plus the scrunchy socks (over the pants, of course) in neon colors. The oversize sweaters were especially popular with any one who packed on the "freshman 15"!

Wow. These pants bring back memories. I used to were them with a baggy button down shirt and a big wide belt.

Another fad I'm happy to say I refused. I had regular stretch pants, but not stirrup ones.

My mother had several pairs which she wore a lot. I've worn them a few times.

My mother-in-law STILL wears these (I have NO idea where she even buys them at, I think she has a time machine) with huge, oversized Cosby sweaters and ankle boots that zip on the sides. Oh, and the shoulder pads! LOL, She's still sewing them into her blouses! I love going to see her, it's like my very own 80's flashback. I'm trying to get her to wear them with a big, wide belt and some giant hoop earrings, but she refuses.

my school is stuck in the 80's...none of us were even born yet but we luv the style...except shoulder pads! i wear them all the time with shirtdresses or plain dresses with fun jewelry. they make some really nice ones at hues, american eagle, american apperal and claires. a black dress (plain) + Black stirrup pants + Black heels + fun jewelry + black leg warmers = super sexy!

Like Andrea, I wore stirrup pants back then and loved them.I would where a big blouse with black stirrup pants and pumps or mules. They where hot. I should go and buy a new pair.

Ski pants are thick insulated Kay, like ski jackets.

kay - they are the same! in the uk we called them ski pants, elsewhere such as the us they called them stirrup pants.

Many girls wore stirrup pants with gartered stockings in the 1960's. The pants were tight and the garter tabs would show under the material. This was considered hot and it made the guys drool. I'm in my late 50's now and I still own three pairs of stirrup pants. And I still wear gartered stockings. I'll dress up in both from time to time with a pair of high heel sandals and drive my husband crazy. It's still fun so never grow old and enjoy life for tomorrow it may not be there. Linda Susan

I had some as a kid, I remember, and now I am trying to find some for my two-year-old daughter.She has a problem with her stretchy pants riding up her legs.. The next step is to sew some elastic strips on them!

A lot of the ones from the late 80s were so flimsy-looking, just like a thin stretch jersey with stirrups attached, almost like weak, slightly loose tights. But they were everywhere through about 1990. I liked the ones from the late 50s/early 60s better. Friends and I used to scour thrift stores for those in the late 70s/early 80s. They were heavy stretch twills with a stronger foot strap and a center crease.

My g/f pants had detachable stirrups -used to unsnap them and 'hide' them sometimes. Boy,were they baggy when wet,but had a nice sheen especially over her butt! I believe they were made out of nylon@rayon.

Lived in stirup skipant for years, still have some I wear. My wife & I would wear each others as we were similar size & they stretched anyway, we had some really bright colours. They were so practical, it would be great to see in the shops again.

I got a pair of white stirrup pants for my 8th birthday March of 86. The straps bothered my feet inside my fake Reebok look alike velcrow hightops. So I hid from my mom and cut the stirrups off. The pant legs shot up to my knees and they looked like knickers! Boy was my mom mad!

I use to wear my stirup pants with heels.They were very cool struting around with a big sweater.I really liked to wear a pair of high heel slides like Candies,that was super cool.

I have a black pair, the same as in the picture. The wide stirrups are OK,the narrow ones are not. Also, he stirrups should not stretch the pants; there needs to be some "give".

I really liked mine. Then my pant legs didn't ride up when I sat or anything! I liked the type that weren't the knit stretch type material though. I had a pair that were kind of a dark/hot pink with black stripes up and down and across. I have seen them in a very long time!!
