Sex: Male

When it was popular: Early 80s
Description: We used to wear 'Thicks' (fat shoelaces) loosely in our shoes. I was mostly the break-dancing crowd. We didn't tie them...just kept them neatly laced in a loose pattern.

Those were hard to lace up and wear.

I had a pair of white ankle tie wedge sandals that I was glued too everyday. One day I was in school and my girlfriends stuck crazy glue in front of my locker and I stuck both of my sandals in the puddle of glue. I went to turn to leave to go to class and I was totally STUCK NOW I'm wearing my skin tight jeans and I can't grab my ankles to pull up without hitting my head on the lockers I'm just to close to my locker so I just pulled my left then my right leg up I keep going back and fourth and I feel my leather ankle ties stretching and I'm still STUCK and my friends left me and I'm late to class. I' still trying to get unstuck then I snapped my right ankle tie and a couple pulls with left leg I snapped my left one too. I was able to pull my favorite sandals up now and I pulled my fat white shoe laces off my sneakers in my locker and stuck on my sandals tied the laces around my ankles stuck a knot at the end and I was good to go again. My girlfriends got me good that day they always play jokes on me.

I have a neon chartreuse pair in my roller skates, which are black (yes, they make black ladies' roller skates). They are UV reactive as well. I rollerskate outside now, since roller rinks are basically gone.
