Description
Sex: Female
Type of clothing: Shoes
When it was popular: Approx 1982 - 1984
Description: These are basically Peter Pan boots but they weren't ususally called that in the UK. They were usually a male fashion, almost always suede, frequently colored beige, black or (if you were in Duran Duran) whatever color happened to take your fancy at the time! There was a female equivalent, 'Pixie boots' which were ususally similar in style but not always suede and either flat or kitten heeled (pin heel not exceeding 1.5/2 inches).

Hi! Just wanted to say I love this article! I was talking about the boots my Mum bought me back in the 80's and no-one seemed to know the term "tucker boots" so of course, I googled it and found this website - thanks for the flash from the past! (and proving my point to others lol!)

I remember tucker boots. They were definitely a female item too. I was really proud of mine, they were suede but can't remember the colour, black most probably.

my tucker boots were Brown Leather and I wish I still had them I had Brown leather peg trousers and a sheepskin flying jacket the 80s was a hell of a lot of fun

I still have mine! I got them for my 13th birthday and they were grey suede, they were really expensive at the time, from my Aunties catalogue. I wore them to death, but they're still in good nick at 39 years old. I last wore them for an 80s reunion party in 2013. I never grew from age 12 (5'9" and size 8 shoe) and am still the same! :)

Tukka boots, and yes, men and women wore them. My brother and I shared loads of clothes and accessories when we were New Romantics!

I've literally just been out in town trying to find something vaguely like the tucker boots of the 80s. I couldn't. Just shelves of cheap, plastic looking tat with silver or gold coloured plastic attachments. And they wonder why people shop online. I loved my tucker boots from the 80s, wish I still had them. I was a massive Duranie, so they were essential footwear.
