I remember the look you describe from the later 80s, like when Claudia Schiffer started doing the Guess jeans ads. I also remember that after pointy-toed black boots with lots of straps and buckles on them became real popular about 1985/86 (people call them "goth boots" now but they didn't then), there was sort of a brief trend of wearing white versions of the pointy-toed boots. Very briefly popular.
