I was born in 1977. So I was in third grade when challenger blew up, and I graduated 8th grade in 1990. I loved the 80's, although I was not really at "partying" age yet, I do remember Debbie Gibson shaking your love, and Warrant telling me all about Cherry Pie, I remember staying up late on the weekends to watch saturday night live with Dana Carvey, Jan Hooks, Nora Dunn, and Dennis Miller on weekend update. I remember getting my first nintendo and playing duck hunt and super mario bros. I remember playing on the phone with my friend, making prank calls, slashing our jeans, putting half a can of mousse in our hair just like Corey haim and Corey Feldman in "Dream a little Dream", not having anywhere to go but sneaking out in the middle of the night anyway. I remember going to the theatre with my friends to see the first Ninja Turtles movie, I remember Having tons of He'Man, Transformers, and GI Joes. I remember wanting to be like the older kids and party like they did, listening to their weird scary music like the Cure and Boy George, and Siouxsie and the Banshees and Depeche Mode. I remember all the girls wore white Keds and their bangs were high, I remember having a crush on Mary Lou Rhetton when she won the gold in 84, I remember watching the Making of USA for Africa on HBO. I remember when Michael Jackson was still awesome, Commodore 64 was going to change the world, and gas was 79 cents a gallon. David Lee Roth was in Van Halen, Marty McFLy had to get back to the future, and Anthony Michael Hall told us that "chicks could not hold their smoke" the 80's were a fun time.

I was born in 1976 and remember the 80's with a lot of fond memories. I miss the good wholesome entertainment though. There was no reality TV, unless you consider "That's Incredible" as a reality series. Does anyone remember that show? And "Ripley's Believe It Or Not!" with Jack Palance. "Growing Pains", "Punky Brewster", "The Facts of Life", "McGuyver" (LOVED that show!), "Fraggle Rock", "V" and "Matlock" to name a few. And the movies were "radical"! "The Goonies", "E.T.", "The Last Unicorn", "The Dark Crystal". I love to watch those shows and movies when I can find them. I absolutely loved Thundercats! I even had the action figures and took them with me everywhere! Transformers, Voltron, He-Man, Smurfs and G.I. Joe were my faves too. You couldn't pull me away from the TV on Saturday mornings! I never missed my cartoons. And I loved my Atari until I got the NES. Then the controller was practically superglued to my hands. I still have my NES and it still works! I'd rather play that than my Playstation 2. And I have a HUGE 80's playlist on my iPod. I listen to 80's music more than anything else. Eurythmics, Duran Duran, The Police, 'Til Tuesday, Real Life, Genesis, Phil Collins, Toto, Tears for Fears, Simply Red, Robert Palmer, Peter Gabriel, Madonna, Nu Shooz, The Human League and so many more. That music brings back memories of when I was a kid and all I cared about was riding my bike, jumping ramps, making forts, climbing trees, playing with my toys and watching cartoons. So simple. The toys and board games were awesome too! Transformers, G.I. Joe's, Star Wars, Hot Wheels (they're still around), Wrist Racers (Dukes of Hazzard, did anyone else have those?), Popples, My Little Pony, Cabbage Patch Kids, Hungry Hungry Hippo, Original Monopoly (not one of the many versions they have now), Life, Yahtzee, Uno (Draw Four!). I had so many toys and I can't even remember what the names of some of them were, but they were cool! I am a child of the Eighties. I'm proud of it and love to go back and re-live it from time to time.

I liked Cajun spiced Ruffles and New York Seltzer. I saw Iron Eagle, RAD, Howard the Duck, and One Crazy Summer in the theater. I remember when red M&Ms were a big deal. Born in the USA was part of my record collection. I remember what I was doing when I first heard about the Challenger explosion. I liked Duran Duran. I've seen a bootleg copy of ET. I've probably seen the Thriller video, as my grandmother would say, "more times than Carter's has liver pills". I've purchased CDs that were packaged in cardboard longboxes. I've recieved a disc camera and Bruce Springsteen Live 1975-1985 as Christmas presents (not in the same year, though). I participated in Hands Across America. ALF, at one time, was my favorite tv show.
