As long as they didn't have that nasty, oily, stick to the roof of your mouth "frosting" on them. The plain ones are delicious!

I remember the large animal cookies with the thin layer of pink icing on them that were pretty good.

The Mother's Cookie Co. originated in San Francisco around 1915. Circus animal cookies made there competed with Barnum's Animals shortbread cookies by Nabisco. Mother's has a website.

The animal cookies I remember were very different than those mothers cookies. they were larger and had a thin layer of lite pink icing on the top only. the icing was so thin like it was painted on. they were delicious.

I found Stauffer's Iced Animal Cookies online. They look the most like the animal cookies I remember only smaller and they come in pink and white icing.
