Oh my gosh, yes Aspen soda was great stuff!!! I remember my child hood days in California having a cool crisp taste of Aspen. I agree there is no other soda like it! They were dumb for taking it away!! I too signed that petition.

When I was pregnant with my now 27 year old son, I had cravings for Aspen Soda's Cheddar Bacon Cheetos(which is also discontinued) and a snickers bar. Everyday for several months I would send my seven year old daughter now 35 to the corner store. She happened across the petition and called me to sign the petition. Please bring back the originL ASPEN soda. every sip tasted as though you were biting into a crisp liquid green apple(soda).

I loved Aspen soda. When we played baseball games in the neighborhood playground in the 70's 9 which started at 7am 7 we'd play until dark, in between games during the breaks we'd all run through the woods to this motel that had soda machines & most of us would by several cans of aspen soda & drink them all day. I really miss that soda and pepsi really screwed up by discontinuing it. Anyway, I also signed the petition to bring it back. I hope they realize what a good thing they had & decide to bring it back. It's like when the hershey candy company discontinued Good & Fruity Candy & decided to keep Good & Plenty instead. Just another dumb screw up by a company that kept the wrong product and got rid of the good 1 !!

I remember when I was a kid and a lady was in Murphy's Mart (remember that store??) sitting at one of those promo tables pushing Aspen soda. After going back for a third cup, the lady told me "no more, honey!" That was good-tasting stuff! wish they'd bring it back.

We sold this when I worked at Pizza Hut - the managers wanted us to promote the heck out of it, but I was the only one who did by using the corporate tag line ... "the crisp, clear soft drink with just a snap of apple!" It worked on some folks, but obviously, not too many. Hey, speaking of Pizza Hut, does anyone remember their Romano salad dressing? Mmmmmm!

Hey guys, I found this apple soda at a local Chinese grocery store, the can's yellow and has a red apple on it. It tastes like apple and I love it, if you guys really want an apple soda, I guess you could try to look for it at a Chinese grocery store.

Aspen actually came out in the 70s..NOT the 80s... But I do still miss it. When it first arrived in stores, they came around the neighborhood and hung a bag with two cans and coupons on each door. I got home from school before most of the neighborhood, so let's just say that many of them didn't hear about Aspen for quite a while!

I LOVED IT. WHAT A GREAT REFRESHING DRINK. TRADER JOES IS LIKE A SPECIALTY HEALTH FOOD STORE. THEY HAD THIS APPLE COLA AND IT TASTED VERY CLOSE TO ASPEN. THEY ALSO DISCONTINUED IT. I WAS SAD AND I HAVE YET TO FIND SOMETHING JUST LIKE IT OR EVEN CLOSE. YUMM, I DONT KNOW WHY THEY DONT PUT IT OUT AGAIN IF IT WAS A GREAT HIT.

Aspen soda...(sigh) Mmm...so good I'd wake up in the middle of those hot San Fernando nights for an ice cold one, all summer long! The best soda I have ever had, for sure, and it was a godsend during my '81 pregnancy when I could not drink coke.

Loved Aspen soda! Like sweet sparkling cider!
Gina - August 25, 2009 - Report this comment
I used to put it in the freezer for about 5 minutes and enjoy it really really cold. I miss the 70's!! Hey maybe if we inundate Pepsi with requests they may consider bringing it back... Wouldn't that be awsome!!!!

I was 8 when I first took that great taste of a cold Aspen. I just bought it with money my mom gave me from a soda machine outside a corner store she had me go in for bread. It loved it instantly and got it every chance she let me from that machine. Then one sad day I went to get one and it was gone. still to this day i long for it. This is the first time I found anybody who remembers it. for years I asked people if they remembered it with always a no. I was beginning to think I was dreaming it or just going crazy with age. so yeah I am so happy to hear it was for real and there is a petition to bring it back.please go vote. petiononline.com/aspen/petition.html

I worked for Pepsi in the 80's and drove the only Aspen service van in the Phila area. It was converted from a normal white van . No options only heat and AM radio !

I remember buying it at the corner store one summer day. It was the best tasting Apple soda ever. I was so disappointed when I found out Pepsi stopped making it. It was soooo good, probably the best soda ever. Please bring it back Pepsi!!!!!!!

What an explosion of FLAVOR! I must say as a nine year old then they sold me instantly. I tell the kids and remind old friends how awesome and satisfying it was. I still taste and long for it. What a hit!... marioledesma1@yahoo.com

MAN I MISS THAT SODA!!! My parents told me that they were going to get a divorce & I was crying my heart out. My father took me to the park & gave me an Aspen & it was the best thing I had ever tasted in my life. So on one of the worse days of my young life that Aspen made it just a little better.

If Aspen is the same soda that I fell in love with as a kid at age 14, then I would love to see it brought back. The only soda that might ever compare to taste and quality these days is DRY soda.

Four years ago when I came back to L.A. I noticed that Cactus Cooler was still on the market! I hadn't seen it in the (weirdo) SF Bay Area the entire 12 years that I lived there. It was so cool to see! I used to drink it at the tennis courts from the vending machine on weekends. THEN I remembered my absolute favorite soda of all time, Aspen! It was ten times better than Cactus Cooler... but what a bummer, it's off the market now. Ice cold it was an incredible drink. I wish they'd bring it back.

This soda was developed and distributed by Segram's as I was told by the waitress that gave it to me when I was only 14 years old. In college this was confirmed by a marketing professor that it was a spirits company that held the rights and dared to compete with the likes of Pepsi and coca cola. It was used in class as an example of POOR marketing research. He(the professor)himself said that this soda was aweful. He was the first and last person I ever met that tried this soda and said that it was anything but outstanding. I myself LOVED this heavenly elixir and would pay $20.00 a can for the stuff. Who ever made this SODA. PLEASE BRING IT BACK.

It's kinda strange to think that I can still remember the taste... but I do... Aspen was so good!Aspen was around when I was a child and it was my favorite... and at the time I don't remember them getting rid of it but I sure have missed that wonderful refreshing soda over the years and would absolutely love it if it would make a come back!

As a child growing up in SoCal, I loved that refreshing drink, my father would have it at his house and my sister and I would enjoy the hell out of it in the hot summers. It would be wonderful if Pepsi would make it again for my children to enjoy. There was something about that apple flavor. Absolutely the best.

I loved this soda, growing up in So Cal and 30+ years later, I still remember the flavor. The Manzanita Sol that Pepsi makes is NOT the same flavor. It's way too syrupy sweet. I wish Pepsi would bring Aspen back.

My daughter just bought this Apple soda called Mr. Flav. I told her it reminded me of a soda called, Aspen. I loved that stuff as a kid in Pennsylvania and wish they would bring it back!! Mr. Flav is close, but it's not Aspen. Maybe we should buy the recipe from Pepsi and produce it. Any investors? Ha Ha.

I had it while the wife and I were visiting my sister-in-law in Colorado 30+ years ago and I bloody loved it. I never saw it anywhere else. I've been looking for a substitute ever since. Late last year I stumbled across Chek brand soda (generic soda by either Winn-Dixie or BI-LO, who now owns Winn-Dixie) and they have a green apple soda that is the closest thing I've ever found to my memory of Aspen. I do wish Coca Cola would bring Aspen back though!

Pretty much the same story! Growing up in LA barefoot so free! I'd spend my lunch money on the way to school, stop in at the drive thru dairy, spend my dollar on a slice a bag of Doritos and a fire jolly rancher stock, remember those? Best childhood ever!

Wikipedia says Aspen Soda was an apple-flavored soft drink sold across the United States by PepsiCo from 1978 until 1982. In 1984, PepsiCo came out with a replacement apple soda under its new Slice line. Sidral Mundet is a line of carbonated apple-flavored sugar-sweetened soft drinks available in Mexican food markets. Sidral Mundet is supposedly available in six flavors: red apple, green apple, golden apple, plum, peach, and pear, but I have only seen the Red Apple flavor in stores.
