Description
It sort of tasted like peach if I remember correctly. It came in beige or light yellow packaging with polka-dots (pink I think, or maybe orange.)

Was this the ad campaign that had "Weird" Al getting hit by fallen fruit?

Never mind I think that was "Bonkers" and I think it was an old lady not "Weird" Al. Ummm...whoops.

One of my favourite gum flavours...besides blueberry Hubba Bubba...orange Bubbalicious...and strawberry/banana Bubble Yum. I can still see the packaging light orange background w/ pink dots...

i think the Wacky Fruit flavor was actually cantalope. But Bubble Yum's marketing people must have thought that cantalope-flavored gum would not sell under that name. Hence the name Wacky Fruit.

As far as I can remember Wacky Fruit was supposed to be a blend of peach, mango, pineapple, coconut and some 5th flavor, either papaya, passion fruit or guava. I grew up in Canada and I think the later packages had a stylized drawing of the fruits in question on them. The TV ad is on Youtube, but I wish Wikipedia would provide the full flavor list...

It was definitely melonish flavor and came in a peach colored package. It was my favorite flavor and my first kiss was exactly 24 yrs ago today in HS. I was chewing this exact gum and surprised my best friend (a guy) on his 16th birthday by kissing him at his locker. I recall his huge smile and his words, "Wacky Fruit, huh?" I will never forget it. :)
