Description
I choose this cause I know it was created in the 80s. It's basically a chimchanga (I would have simply said this but I'm not sure the Chimichanga was created in the 80s).

I loved these, they were so great. You could order 3 or 5 (I believe) and they were served with sour cream and taco sauce. Bring these back!!

Please oh please bring these back along with the 80's fries!!!! Why would they change or remove these perfect items from the menu???
Laurel - December 25, 2007 - Report this comment
I agree! The mini crisp burritos and the mashed potato fries were the best!

I used to love these things! I remember getting them with guacamole and salsa and mixing it together and diping them in it ooohhh it was one of the best foods ever! I think the last time I can remember getting them was around 1992. Can we start a petition to get them back?!

Carl's Jr's Mini Chimichangas! I loved those things! They totally suck for taking those away. I'll sign your petition, Levi!

Why do yall get good stuff like this at Carl's Jr and all we get is overpriced smoke flavored burgers at Hardee's? Whats with two different chains having the same Icons but completely different menus?

OMG so i go to Carl's Jr today and look whats on the window..... Crisp Burritos. I nearly wet myself, then I tasted them, these are not the same little beef & bean blend burritos we love from our youth, they are pure beef and cheese and they taste like crap. STUPID CARLS JR get back the classic version and Ill buy them for life, these suck

the other day I saw a poster at the local carl's for crisp burritos which I had totally forgotten about and haven't had since the 80's. why the hell was it gone for so long?! it had the old aroma and a similar taste but not the same as the old ones. pretty good, not as bad as the previous poster who hated them. since we're going down memory lane bring back the COUNTRY FRIED STEAK SANDWICH!!

Little burrito big disappointment. The 5 pc weighs in near SIX DOLLARS with guacamole and sales tax!! Having almost (?)no flavor(?) they need guacamole AND sour cream. Each unit just at the size of two "D" cell batteries. The Carl's ad you've no doubt seen it. The reality...underinflated in flavor and appearance, understuffed dark reddish beef vs the ad which shows a chubby green chili chimi appearance. The ad picture will compel late night tokerz to hit the streets however even they'll be underwhelmed and asking..."dude why do these have no flavor?" This is the food the $6 burger ads poke fun at.

I finally tried the Crisp burritos, and they were similar to how they were in the 80s, but not quite the same. I think that it's the trans fat-free oil that they are cooked in that makes them taste a bit different. rIck!, I bet you probably didn't try these when they were originally on the market! ;-)

They are pretty good, but NOT the same. I remember the cheesy (not just cheddar) taste back in the day, my favorite Carl's item! They also recently had the California Roast Beef Sandwich (remember those?) at a Carl's near me, but it wasn't the same product I remember.

They suck! Too small and expensive! Taste like crap, maybe no flavor but greasy ground beef worth 30 cents! Not the flavor I expected nor the size shown in the commercials! It should say, 'extremely enlarged to show texture!' There should be a disclaimer! Go dang dat need dat goo ol lan fil dem burr goa nah notin on theet!

I too loved the classic Junior Crisp Burritos from the late 80's. I too saw the new "Crispy Burritos" featured at Carl's recently and I went to try them today. Here's what I think... The classic junior Crisp Burrito was better. It was actually crispy on the outside. The filling was mysterious mix of meat, cheese, peppers and probably alot of other things that I'd rather not know about, but it was good and spicy with a green chili taste. The outside wasn't as crispy as a fried corn tortilla, but it was more crispy than the new product. The new Carl's Crisp Burrito is obviously an attempt re-create the original, but it's as if the people in charge of making the new burrito's were born too late to have known what the first product was like. The new burrito's claim to be seasoned ground beef with cheese and jalipenos wrapped in what is described as a flour tortilla and fried to a crisp. To be honest I didn't see or taste cheese or jalipenos. The outer shell wasn't crispy at all, nor did it seem to be a real flour tortilla but some breadlike faxsimilie. If you like mildly seasoned taco meat by itself wrapped in dough and deep fried then you'll like these...if you think the Junior Crisp Burrito is back you're mistaken.

We need to find out who produced the burritos for Carls Jr !!!! I too will buy them for life. I say the coupons today and decided to look them up here to see if anyone had treid them and if the were same. Carls Jr. YOU ARE FXXkING with my emotions !!!!

The good old days at Carls Jr. have been over for a decade. There food comes out cold and poorly made and watch out if the store uses disabled employees. The best thing in the 80's was the califorina roast beef sand. I remember the burritos and they were ok the chili dogs were good. Corporate seemed to put profit in front of any pride of service or quality of menu item. They need to fix it but there too big. Shame

What Carls nedd to bring back is the Fish Filet Sandwich they use to have in the 80's I remember I use to love it. I still remember the wrapper it was a shiny blue with silver. It had tomatoe lettuce so good!!!

WHY YOU WILL NEVER SEE THEM AGAIN! - The demand for chimichangas outpaced the burgers by such an extent that they were causing problems with other products spoiling while streams of customers wanted ONLY chimichangas. Eventually a corporate decision was made to remove this "nuisance" item from the menu and force customers to return to their world of burgers again. Typical corporate stupidity, really. Instead they could have capitalized on their success and simply scaled down the delivery of beef and other burger-oriented supplies, but the machine was so big at that point that scaling back was no small task. It was simpler to just get rid of the overly popular item.

I am glad I am not the only one who remembers them! I dream of them still and the new ones are mini martish crap!

Go to 7-11 and get a few of those rolled taco-like things they have rolling on the grill next to the hotdogs. Make sure you get the one called something like "taco and cheese," but I'm not sure of the name. They taste a LOT like the crisp burritos from CJ in the 80's!!! Not as cheese-filled but very, very close!!!
Wesley - February 14, 2019 - Report this comment
Id hit CJ at least 3 times a week if they still had those 80’s mini burritos with the guacamole sauce on side! Still in 2019 havnt had anything better!!

Got these all the time in the late 80's/early 90's. They were my go to Carl's Jr item. They'll probably never bring them back. For those looking for something similar go to Taco Time and get their Crisp Burrito. Taste just like the ones you got at Carl's.

The big gooey crisp burritos from when I was a child and crinkle cut fries. I want both right now.

Loved these. I'm going to attempt to make and will post a recipe if successful. Initial idea is finely shredded pork, jack cheese, verde sauce, in a flour tortilla fried in canola oil. Someone said bean but I didn't recall anything beany about it. Wish me luck!

I m8ss the Crisp Burritos with their slightly tart taco sauce. As I'm Not a fan of their fries or other sides, the 5piece was my go-to side dish. Miss them. Paleeeeze bring them back.
