I love carnation instant breakfast bars and the closest I can come to them is the slimfast chocolate chip. The have that same maltly protien powder flavor but are not hard, they are chewwy.

Target's Market Pantry Nutrition Bars (Fudge Graham) is very reminiscent of them. I still wish they'd bring the old ones back. Everything suddenly went "CHEWY!" in the late 80s/early 90s and then they changed the recipe. If it's the little crunch with the chew that you miss, Target's is pretty close the target.

My Uncle used to feed me these when I was little. I liked the almost chalky texture they had. I'll have to try the Target ones.

I am sick over the Carnation company discontinuing these bars. They were the bomb! I feel it had to do with the "FAT CRAZE" which is over now. Please bring them back. Not all of us are fat.

This is so amazing to find so many people lusting after the Carnation Instant Breakfast Bars. I, too used to eat them in high school in the 80's. It was the only thing that I looked forward to in the morning. I would one with a cup of tea. I think I had one for a snack after school, too. I was very slim and always dieting. My mom swears that for years I lived off those "funny" bars. I just started thinking about them recently and have searched the supermarket aisles to no avail. So I finally decided to go online and see if there was any info out there. Then I find all of you! I have tried so many of the other nutrition bars out there and nothing can compare. Someone hit the nail on the head in describing the "chalky" texture. Oh, the powers that be at Carnation, if you are listening, please bring these back, the original recipe, chocolate chip, minus the trans fat (which I'm sure they had).

PLEASE bring them back - especially the chocolate chip, and the peaNut butter and chocolate chip flavor. They were such a treat. Nestle bought the Carnation brand in 1985 - and the rest of Canation Instant Breakfast Bars are now history...If anyone from Nestle out there is listening - please there is a market out there craving for them!!!

These used to be my favorite lunch in jr. high. I would have a peanut butter choc. chip bar every day with a choc. shake. I hadn't thought about these for years until I linked back up with some jr. high friends online and was heartbroken when I discovered they discontinued them. They were my favorite breakfast bar of all time! I hope Carnation gets enough push to bring them back.

Please bring these back!I think they were produced in the early 90's as I recall eating them on the run as a flight attendant. They reaaly helped me keep my weight under comtrol. The chocolate chip were the best!

YES! I can't believe other folks like / remember them too! I loved the 80's Carnation Instant breakfast bar. They were SOOOO GOOD. They came in a nice yellow wrapper (for that time) which was foil based to seal in all the goodness. I have been searching for years to find something similar, and compare all breakfast type bars to it (carnation breakfast bar circa 1980's should be the highest achievable standard as far as taste goes) - the chocolate chip, crunchy inside was sooo good. I can see it and almost taste it right now. I too would pay good $$$ to get my hands on one. COME ON NESTLE - BRING BACK THE ORIGINAL RECIPE!!! IMAGINE THE MARKETING CAMPAIGN SUCCESS as buyers new and **old** curiously shop for the bar that so many want back on the shelf!
