Bacon Cheetos were my all-time favorite snack ever! From what I remember, they were only around in 1983 (maybe '82 as well) then they disappeared. I've been wishing Frito Lay would bring them back ever since!

Yes! They were great. I was so excited when I first saw the Cheetos Bacon Cheddar crackers, but they are terrible -- the old puffs had a much better bacon flavor. FritoLay won't admit they existed, which makes me think there was something horrible in the cooking process. But I remain hopeful they'll bring it back someday...

My friends dad caught me full tilt on this bag of delicious smoky bacon cheddar cheetos while we had the munchies in his garage. It was the funniest thing in the world- we laughed hard. I'm glad I'm not the only one to remember these bacon cheese snacks. They were the only time that I purchased a Cheetos product on a regular basis. Why do companies in this country insist on offering us only chocolate, vanilla and strawberry when we really want diversity?

Only one person I know remembers the bacon flavored Cheetos. The only way you can eat something close to it is the bacon cheddar crackers by Frito-Lay, but it's not the same. I recall they were out in the early 80's cause I was 4 at the time. I know I was super young when they came out, but a flavor like that you'll never forget! I agree with everyone, they need to bring them back!

Bacon and cheddar Cheetos were simply the quintessential 80's junk food creation. I can remmember one evening my mom tempted me to behave on a Saturday when pops was at work as a way to bribe me. I was playing with my orange Stomper battery powered monster truck on my parents red carpeted floor on a Saturday right before the muppets and chilling with my big brother. Then mama came with the blue striped bowl of F@&*ck'n Bacon Cheddar Fritos! I was jam'n my stopper on the floor, although the damn thing was battery powered, and making slobbery engine noises. Sweet, this was a good tasting jumk food of the 80's--I recall the taste just as I recalled this childhood memory--good marketing Cheetos! Slipp'n some partially-hydrodgenated oils that were mass produced and modified for corn fry'n.

Whatup all you bacon cheddar cheetos lovers those cheetos were me and my brothers and sisters favorite back in 1984 thru 86 or 87 we couldn't get enough of them things, i feel like a lot of you out there every time i would ask someone if they had ever had these cheetos they would say, what! i done remember those but i do and them bad boys was hittin we grow up in compton ca and in my late 30's now and sure would like see them back in the markets and stores.

WOW!! This is crazy...me and my friend would be late to school in the morning going to get these chips. I tell you this brings back soooo many memories. Bacon and Chedder Cheetos were the best chips in the world. I grew up in San Diego and she just text me and told me that they have them at the corner stor as a trial. Wow!! I told her to mail me a bag. That is the reason why I googled it to see if they have them in Atlanta....I can't wait to get a bag!!

I am so glad I am not the only one that have been looking for these chips for Years......I have contacted cheetos and they act like they didnt have a flavor like that. I was like " i was not on drugs at that time sir" lol... s i know i ate those chips and want the taste back so bad.

I was a skinny lil' thing back then, but I could scarf an entire bag of the crunchy ones alone in my dorm room. It was about all I spent my pitiful quantity of spending money on. This was in CT in the early 80s.

I love the bacon cheetos about 10-12 years ago i called Frito Lay to ask What happen to my bacon cheetos? I was informed at that time they were not a very popular item. I thought at that time I was the only person that even tried them. I loved them. I want some bacon cheetos!!!!!!!!!

The flamin' hot cheetos are the closest I could get to the sweet MSG after taste the bacon flavored cheetos had. Dammit! I loved that snack product! Bring em back...PLEASE!

Interesting, the sustained popularity of the bacon flavored Cheeto after all these years. It took me nearly 2 years of convincing the brand to consider adding a bacon flavor line after experimenting with the flavor in my kitchen. I used a raw mix at home and deep fried them in bacon grease and then sprinkled them with the signature cheese mix. It wasn't bad but good enough to get the Frito Lay's R&D team to modify the recipe and spices to put on the shelves! The idea earned me a check for staggering $1.5MM after the first year the product was on the market. Pretty good for a guy that just watched Cheetos pour into bags on the production line. Thank God for my Southern roots and hillbilly home style cooking right? Anyway, I went to Campbell's as a consultant and learned that the bacon flavored cheetos were pulled from the shelves. There was no answer to why they made the decision and it still remains a mystery today. There was however a rumor that the flavor was served at a picnic and Frito's CEO was there with his wife. She was Jewish and adhered to a no pork rule but had already eaten at least two large bags of the bacon flavored Cheetos. Angry about not being informed of the pork flavored relationship with the food she silently demanded they be removed from the shelves. That's the story I got. But what do I care, I'm still as happy as a "pig in %$@#! I'd love to the return of the item myself!

Bacon flavored Cheetos were the absolute bomb! They had the dollar bags and the 25 cent bags. Man I LOVED them! I truly, truly wish very very much that they would bring these BACON FLAVORED CHEETOS back, please! I guarantee this around THEY WILL be a top seller.

These were favs of my Mom (now 83) but we could never find them in local groc stores & it became my habit to buy them whenever I was traveling as they appeared readily available at gas station markets. Then I hit the bonanaza in '06 @ Ingles in Robbinsville, NC where they sold it by the box. Whenever we went to our place there - I'd stock up. Then 2 years ago - nothing. So all you who've missed it for years, it was on the market until just about 2 years ago. I've been deligently searching & finally today, thought to google it. I am NOT looking forward to telling my Mom they are no longer made:( but she may actually still have a pack, if we need to PROVE to Frito Lay they DID make them! LOL

I told that lady that she was wrong and she didn't know the history of her own employer. The year was 1982 a small town just outside of Houston Texas . My mother was into you the double and triple coupons phase of her life. And I'll never forget the first bag of baking flavored crunchy cheetos I rehab . It was a glorious moments ! By young pallet had never experienced such a delicious treat . The glorious taste in baking with that crunchy cheese flavor blew my mind ! Somehow she ended up getting for about $3 . I believe it was the best 3 point my mother ever spent . She originally back them for the children at her small daycare center and when I realized she was about to pass them out to the other kids I hated every bag slightly evil perhaps mostly genius definitely ! I chated with a representative of Lays/Fitos/Cheetos on their website and she said that she did not even find them on her discontinued list. I told her they were discontinued way back in 1983. I even forward her this link, but her reply was that her system would not let her open this link. Why have they not put these back on the market when everyone else is putting Bacon products on their shelves. I mean they had the best flavored chip of its time, and I am sure it would be a mega hit in todays society.

It's been nearly 35 YEARS since the product was discontinued. Just look at the snack food aisle. Rows and rows of crappy, gimmicky flavors...it's just sad.
