I remember these. My mom helped me collect most of the ones available. I remember having the Beatles, Genesis, Abba, as well as many others. I think they were around in the early 80's. I know we were collecting them when I was 5 so that had to be late 1980.

Had em all. My Mom worked (still does) for the company that printed em. Still wish I had em,

I came across these for the first time while surfing eBay. I now have collected the Beatles entire set and some others that have sentimental value. Pretty cool music memorabilia. The last one I'm looking for is Journey....

I remember a classmate whose dad worked for the company that made those records. He brought a minirecord player that played those mini records to show-and-tell. It actually worked.

I have some of these, but I chewed all the gum when I was 10 or 11. I also ordered the bigger Chu Bop Album that holds the collections. Have you ever seen one of these, I've never noticed anything about it on any websites.

I also worked for AGI, and still have a nearly complete set of the Beatles Chu-Bops still shrink-wrapped with the bubble gum inside! It is missing #5, Meet the Beatles, and #B2 White Album is no longer shrink wrapped and I obviously chewed the gum as it is gone as well. All are in great shape! I am currently getting ready to move and need to let some stuff go, so if anyone wants to buy this lovingly preserved set please contact me at 520-661-4265.

I collected the complete set - well just the albums the gum is missing in all of them. The only sets that are not in the larger LP is the rolling stones and The Beatles. To complete my collection, I was ordering directly from the company. I just remember toward the end that they were getting hard to purchase. It was such a great idea I couldn't understand why they would stop making them.

I was a child of the 80's but somehow missed this phenomenon. I was in a consignment store in Boulder, CO today and found 37 of the Chu-Bops album covers, including 14 of the 16 Beatles albums and 9 of the 11 rolling stones albums. Although the wrappers are no longer on and the gum is gone, I may have the "one" that you are looking for to complete your collection.

These were really more 1970's than 80'S right? Wasn't there a Fleetwood Mac "Rumours" one circa 1977? Dang wasn't that a great album?

LaSponge: Chu-Bops began in 1977, continuing into the mid 1980s. Amurol Company of suburban Chicago manufactured these replica LP covers with bubble gum disc. The Fleetwood Mac Rumours cover may have been the only one. Several dozen, ranging from Elvis to Bowie, were reprinted. Also a hit in the UK, as many Brits are posting them on eBay. Occasionally, in Chicago, radio commercials aired on WLS (with John Landecker and Brant Miller) and WLUP (Jonathon Brandmeier, 1983-4).
