It was around the early 80's It was in a black box, and they were just like today's gobstoppers except they were all red with a delicous cinnamon cany center.

These where called "Daredevils" The first ones were the size of gobstoppers. The second ones that came out where smaller. I wish they would release them again.

You mean, of course Fireball Jawbreakers. God, that brings back memories. Google it and you will find UK websites that still sell 'em.

No, the name on the box was "Hot Gobstoppers" and they were made by Willy Wonka brand. I miss those things, too. Atomic Fireballs just aren't the same. I can't find them anywhere.

Yes, they were called daredevils gobstoppers and were made by Willy Wonka. They had hot layers, and cool layers with some hard packed powder in the middle. They are the best candy ever made. Much better than fireballs.

Holy crap, what a thread to stumble on. Red Hot Gobstoppers, made by Willy Wonka - are TOTALLY DIFFERENT from atomic fireballs. They don't make them anymore, but I used to scarf a box a day of these babies. If anyone anywhere has a stock pile of Red Hot Gobstoppers, I will buy them NOW! corecorina at hot mail dot com.

I've been searching for YEARS for somewhere that sells Red Hot Gobstoppers. Why did they ever stop making them? They were awesome! I wonder what would happen if people petitioned for them to make a comeback.....

Hi gang, Just posted an article on Wonka's Daredevils over at CollectingCandy dot com. Can't post links here, so you'll have to do a search for Daredevils on the site. I will submit a site link via the link submission process at the top of the page, though. -Jason - June 11, 2012 - Report this comment

Both previously mentioned names are correct; In 1982 they were known as 'Daredevils' but sometime in the early-to-mid 90s the name was changed to 'Hot Gobstoppers' before disappearing without a trace.
