Does anyone recall who manufactured Corn Diggers or which company made these. And are these available any more? These were my favorite corn chips, perfect with dip.

I loved those chips and have been trying to find them for years. It's good to seee I'm not alone in this quest.

I believe they were put out by Nabisco. They were released with 3 other products (one of which was called Potato Crispers, I can't recall the other 2). -QG

Corn Diggers were the best snack food ever! Leave it to Nabisco to ruin a good thing.

My brother's favorite snack was Corn Diggers and they were delicious, but I preferred the Potato Crispers. I haven't seen any of these in ages and was beginning to think I had dreamed them up. So glad to know that I'm not crazy and that other people remember them too. Now, I just wish they would make them again!!

What Walmart has is completely different than the Corn Diggers of the 70s and 80s.
ER RN - October 04, 2009 - Report this comment
I miss Corn Diggers probably more than any other chip that has gone off the market. I looked for them for years after they disappeared from the grocery stores. They were deilicious. As far as the name, HELLO, they were made of corn, and shaped so you could "dig" them into dip! People kill me with their political correctness.
Corn Diggers? - October 15, 2009 - Report this comment
This is hilarious! I had no idea there was a chip by that name. When I was a kid in the south in the early 80's, a "corn digger" was another name for a redneck - because they used dried, eaten corn cobs to wipe with! LOL!!

OMG..I LOVED these chips. My grandma always had them around. I can taste them just thinkin about them. I wish they still made 'em

I'm sitting here eating Bugles and I can't stop thinking about the "Corn Diggers" I used to eat in the early 80's. Was it a dream? Did they ever really exist? I knew they had, but even still, I had to look it up online to see if anyone else remembered these delicious little gems... And voila! Here you all are! Yay!! So glad I'm not alone!! LOL!
Tim - November 17, 2009 - Report this comment
Maybe there's hope. They just brought back O'Boisies chips. I'm not a big fan of those but I would knock an old lady down to get me some Corn Diggers.

These were the BEST snack EVER!!! I have asked tons of people about these and no one remembers them. Thank goodness you all do! Yes, they were called Corn Diggers, by Nabisco. They came in a cracker sized box at first, then a bag. The other type of snack out around the same time was called Chipsters. They were yummy too. Bugles are similar..but nowhere near the same yummy taste as Diggers. Oh PLEASE Nabisco...bring them back! I even called Nabisco once & the person I talked to was too young to remember them & thought I was crazy! I too would buy them by the case! Maybe if we all write/call them & request the return of Diggers!
Short & Sassy - December 17, 2009 - Report this comment
I remember them. They were sooooo good! As far as the name goes, people just want something to gripe about. They need to get that chip off their shoulder. No pun intended.
Butterfly Star - January 23, 2010 - Report this comment
I remember corn diggers. They tasted better than the bugles that are sold now. There was also an awesome dip recipe on the back of the product. I wish I could find that. Bring them back!

I remember these chips as well they were in the 70's and the 80's as well as chipsters potato chips they are the 2 best chips we have ever had. They need to bring both of them right back to North Carolina where they belong and those other chips in the store and send them over seas. They will out sell those other chips in all of those stores and grocery stores. Send them back please let me know where are they located over seas. Please leave me a message or whoever see this comment let me where they are or a phone number where I can reach that number to the place or company it's located out state. Thanks bring them back, bring them back.

I remember corn diggers too .I believe I ate em everyday.so maybe if we all ban together and send letters they may make em again .My only worry is that with all this healthy eating , would they make them the same or take out flavoring.

I am missing the Corn Diggers too. I remember them as a youth and would walk a few miles to the Turkey Hill to buy a bag. Don't remember them in a box however. I forgot what the bag looked like until I searched online. If they bring back O'Boisies I'd be content although I'm not ordering online from a Piggly Wiggly in SC. Bugles are the only thing close to the taste of Corn Diggers, however Bugles are more firm and crunchy. They (not Nabisco) took away the Parmesan Mac & Cheese spirals, as well as over-baked cheese puffs which I can't seem to find online even. They were 2 scored pastry sheets sold in the frozen food section which you broke up into squares and baked until the top was lightly golden and puffed. They took away the baked fruit chips too. So Nabisco, if you're reading this.. there's a man out there who was, and is willing to walk a few miles for Corn Diggers.

Corn diggers were awesome! I remember them having a buttery flavor but it has been a few years. If you can find Tom's bugles, they are better than the general mills version and I think the taste is a little closer to corn diggers but still not as good. And let's not forget the awesomeness of cornquistos. WHY do they always get rid of the great ones!!!!!
KMG - July 23, 2012 - Report this comment
Corn Diggers were the BEST and one of the few words, "Digger" that my sister with Cerebral Palsy could say. They are a childhood memory and I miss the light airy texture of them. Bugles are crap in comparison. Why do companies take a successful product off the market? I will never understand that! Bring them BACK Nabisco!

Can you believe that four your later this blog is still here!? That is PROOF of how good they were! I have emailed Nabisco this link and encourage you to do the same!!! Bring em' back. http://kraftfoods.custhelp.com/app/answers/list2/search/1/kw/

Oh my goodness. I tried looking up Corn Diggums. I am so glad I found the correct name of the delicious snack. I thought I was the only one still craving them. But guess what folks, I found a snack in Big Lots called CornStations. Thay are pretty good too. They taste between the Corn Digger and the Bugle. Still...NOTHING is as good as a Corn Digger. So buttery and just plain GOOD. They alway discontinue the great stuff and replace with less greatness. Oh well..what else is new??
Tina - November 20, 2012 - Report this comment
Maybe we should petition Nabisco to make the Corn Diggers again. I know everytime I eat a Bugle I'm wishing it were Corn Diggers, They were the BEST!

I'll be the first to sign that petition. I loved CORN DIGGERS !!!

Nobody believes me when I say, "The original Bugles were called Corn Diggers, and they totally rocked far more than Bugles ever could!" So glad to know I'm not totally delusional, and I really did see a "UniCorn" Digger that is. The thing that made them far superior to Bugles is that they were crisp and puffy like Bugles but not so freaking hard like Captain Crunch cereal. They also had twice the flavor we enjoy in Bugles packed into a single chip. Oh man I miss those yellow boxes of pure heaven. Back then at age 7 I couldn't help but finish off an entire box without even realizing it until they were gone... :( NABISCO... have mercy, and make us some more!!!!!!

I remember the corn diggers so well too! Best of the best! The first thing I would do when I got my paycheck (as a young teen) would be head to Consumers grocery store and buy some of them!!!! Would love to have them back!!!!
Beth G. - May 29, 2013 - Report this comment
I mean, how many snacks have I literally craved for over 25 years?? Only one. I remember savoring each individual digger. My mom would put some in a sandwich bag for myself and my sister to try to make them last...we used to TRY to eat them slowly, but it was impossible...i just remember ALWAYS wishing fir MORE!!! and then they stopped making them!! It's been my dream to buy some as an adult...maybe 5 bags...and just GORGE on them like I was never allowed to do as a child. I remember the jingle for the commercial. And it's potato "Chipsters", not Crispers. Bugles are trash compared to Corn Diggers. They must have fried them in lard or something cuz nothing that delicious could be JUST corn. I came online hoping to find them available for sale overseas. There's a Big Lots near my home so I'll try these Cornstations as the previous Digger fan suggested. And I'll contact Nabisco and encourage other Digger fans to do the same. DAMMIT!! *shaking my fist in futile anger at the Nabisco Corporation* I just want a Corn Digger!

Hi fellow Corn Diggers' fans! Ok, so I too enjoyed this snack growing up. After searching for years...many LONG years I came across a snack very, very, similar to Corn Diggers. The name of the snack is Cornsations and they're distributed by Barrel O' Fun Snack Foods Co., P.O. BOX 230, PERHAM, MN 56573. I decided to give them a try after spotting them in my local Big Lots Store. Get them and you be the judge! Hopes this info. helps.

Favorite snack of the seventies.... I know the ingredients of the dip, but always guess at the proportions: Cream cheese, sour cream, ketchup, dried minced onion, dried mustard and seasoned salt....loved it so much I had it made for my wedding reception to go with veggies, and have been making it for many occasions the past 30 years :)

They had one of the catchiest commercial jingles I ever heard - still can't get it out of my head. "Everybody's diggin' it, diggin' it, diggin' it, everybody's diggin' with dig-gers! Little corn shovels with a hot popped taste, great new snack from Nabisco! Dig in the box. Dig in to dips. THEY'RE-NOT-LIKE-CRACKERS-ANDTHEY'RENOT-LIKE-CHIPS! When you dig in to Diggers, it's hard to stop! They're like little corn shovels and they taste hot popped! Everybody's diggin' it, diggin' it, diggin' it, everybody's diggin' with dig-gers! Little corn shovels with a hot popped taste, great new snack from Nabisco!" Too bad Nabisco is no more. They merged with RJ Reynolds, then were bought by Philip Morris and merged with Kraft Foods, which then split off their snack foods division into a new company called Mondelez International, which now makes all the Nabisco brand snack foods. Nabisco is just a brand now.

Corn Diggers were also my all-time favorite snack, and I still have cravings for them. I have been looking for a snack that is similar for the last two years, and I was excited by the recommendation above for Cornsations from Barrel O' Fun Snacks. I tried to find them in a Big Lots or other food store to no avail. Finally I called Barrel O' Fun, and sadly the Cornsations have been discontinued (before I could even try them!).

I used to work for Nabisco back in the 1980s as a sales rep and yes remember Corn Diggers, they were the best. We also had Chipsters (a potato based snack) and something like a Cheese Doodle called Cheese Crunchers or Cheese Flings. They all came in a bag, although I read they originally started selling in a box. I think Mondelez (Nabisco) should bring them back as an in and out. I know Planters had Cheese Corn Balls and Twists in a cardboard cylinder package back in the 80s or 90s, discontinued them and brought them back again a couple of years ago and now they are an every day item and doing fairly well sales wise (yes I work for that company).
