OMG! I loved them. My mom put them in my lunch all the time. I'd miss removing all the foil wrap and it would zap my fillings (that wasn't so fun) Good times

I think it's in my head but they just don't taste as good as they used to in the foil! I think it may be the preservatives used today!!

ADing Dongs were made by "Drakes", some years bake Hostess purchased "Drakes" and now the produce them. Hostess has to always had a "waxy" taste and feel to many of their products. Drakes tasted like chocolate the way it was ment to taste.Devil Dogs the cake part still taste the same but the cream is now waxy tasting, not creamy like they used to tast.

I was just telling my husband last night that Ding Dongs are not the same as when in the foil. We would freeze them and oh they were good with the crunchy shell!!!

Yup. Ding dongs tasted better in foil wrap. Not just that but they used to be heavier and tasted more dense. Now they are light weight and like you are eating air. They are still good but they used to be great. I would be willing to pay more money if they made them like in the 80's. That's all I have to say about that.

I agree...they were better in foil. I always wanted to make a giant ball of foil out of them, like on Pee-Wee's Playhouse.
