Description
These chips had an original taco flavor; no sour cream flavor. Really good. Haven't been able to find them in years.

Try the new collisions brand of doritos with both taco and ranch chips. The taste is very similar to the original taco flavored doritos. Very good. I had missed the taco doritos from when I was a kid.

Yes Juanita the collision chip Taco flavor is VERY similar to the original. I found myself separating the bag "L"

I still see Taco Doritos, but, I don't see Taco Bell Taco Supreme Doritos any longer. The plain Taco doesn't taste the same. :(

yes, juanita and john you are correct, they are exactly the same flavor and have the ability to bring me back in time(in my head)that along with my quantum time travel theory is going to eventually allow me to actually go back to the glorius 70's and 80's

My mom used to make a Taco Salad using these back in the 80's. They were so good!!! I need to get a bag of those collisions and relive some great memories!!!

I see Doritos packaged in black bags that say "Back by popular demand" Taco, and also three-cheese. I've seen them in Shop-Rite.

I just tried the new Midnight Tacos Doritos and these seem to taste like the old Taco flavor. Try them and let me know what you think.

several people on the net tell me that in Texas, they still are being made in that factory and are easily available in their stores.. Someone mailed me 3 bags several yrs ago.. I too used them in taco salad! They didn't taste the same to me though, but, like me, my taste buds have changed.
Jenn - June 09, 2010 - Report this comment
Yes! Midnight Tacos Doritos are the same as the old taco doritos!! Yay!!
Doug - July 16, 2010 - Report this comment
Jenn, sorry to say that they definitely are NOT the same, at least not the same as the pre-1985 Taco Doritos.

the original taco did not have sour cream. Frito Lay F'ed these up with sour cream. SNYDERS has a brand called GRANDE....the salsa limon tastes exactly like the original taco....get those if you miss them...mmmmmmmmm nothing comes close to tostitos Nacho cheese before Frito lay bought them.....Why does Ranch Doritos taste exactly like sour cream and onion Doritos???? (remember those?)

I remember original Taco flavor from the 1970's and then stopped making. Then in the 80's, it was "Taco Bell" flavor, which wasn't anything like the 70's Taco flavor.... Boy I miss the 70's, lol

I saw these in the original packaging at a Rite Aid up here in Seattle the other day. They had their won display near the counter. Just thought I'd let people know since some people are raving about them! I remember the red package with see-through front and LOVED those chips, but don't remember the Taco ones.

The company tried to pass a Taco Flavor Dorito in the orignal 70's bag...but no way compares. Only thing close is Midnight Taco. Now, I can't find them !

These IMPOSTER chips in the same bag as the 70s & 80s are not anywhere near the same!!!

There's a chain of conveinance stores/gas stations called Kwik Trip or Kwik Star in the upper midwest that sells taco flavored chips that are pretty dang close to the original. Their brand of chips is called Urge and I buy them all the time. Urge Taco flavored tortilla chips, check them out if you can!
